Car Accident Lawsuit Brings $4.4 Million Settlement

Pittsburgh, PA: The driver of a sport utility vehicle who was rear-ended and subsequently suffered injuries resulting in reflex sympathetic dystrophy has been awarded $4.4 million in her personal injury lawsuit.

In 2005, then 47-year old Cristina Tarca was stopped at a red light when Irvin Johnson drove into the back of her vehicle with his pickup truck. Johnson and his employer, Norristown Ford, stipulated to liability. Tarca sustained a shoulder impingement and cervical and lumbar herniations. The reflex sympathetic dystrophy spread from her right arm to her right leg and left arm and is likely to progress, she alleged in her lawsuit, despite having undergone a discectomy and a fusion surgery and traveled to Florida for Ketamine treatments.
