Wrongful Death Suit Settles for $1.9 Million

San Bernadino County, CA: A man in California, whose wife died as a result of alleged negligent medical practice, has been awarded $1.9 million as settlement of his wrongful death suit.

In 2009, Kathy Hansen, who was just 46 years old, underwent a Whipple procedure to remove the head of her pancreas due to the suspicion of cancer. However, during the procedure Mrs. Hansen reportedly suffered the tearing of a major vein. While the vein was repaired during that same surgery, it required a further operation to rectify due to complications. However, Mrs. Hansen died that evening, and her husband sued the surgeons for negligence and wrongful death.
