Starbucks' Baristas Win Class Action over Tips

Boston, MA: A federal judge in Boston has awarded a summary judgment to 2,500 Starbucks' baristas who filed a class action against the retail coffee chain, alleging that it allowed supervisors to take tips intended for non-management. The judge ruled that this policy violated Massachusetts law governing the distribution of tips.

Similar lawsuits filed in Minnesota and California against Starbucks did not succeed against the company, and the plaintiffs lost their cases.
