Lasik Eye Patient Awarded $550,000

Summit County, OH: A Lasik surgery patient has been awarded $550,000 in her personal injury suit which she filed claiming that she suffered damage to her eye and a loss of vision.

The jury found the ophthalmologist who peformed the procedure to be negligent in this case because the patient had a prior eye condition, which reportedly accelerated following the surgery. As a result, the plaintiff developed corneal abrasions and visual aberrations and distortions that included halos, ghosting, double vision, night vision difficulty and photosensitivity.
