Medical Negligence Resulting in Delayed Cancer Diagnosis Results in $1.8M Award

Boston, MA: A hospital in Massachusetts has been found negligent in the case of a patient who suffered a delayed diagnosis of cancer. The plaintiff claimed that staff at the hospital negligently diagnosed a series of strokes as causing the symptoms with which he presented whereas appropriate testing would have led to the proper diagnosis of intravascular lymphoma.

The delayed diagnosis resulted in the plaintiff losing his ability to walk without help, and his becoming legally blind. A Worcester County jury found for the plaintiff and returned a $1,894,160 verdict, including $500,000 for loss of consortium.
