Sea Star Agrees $18.5M Settlement in Anti-trust Class Action

Miami, Fl: An $18.5 million settlement has been agreed between Sea Star Lines and plaintiffs who brought a class action lawsuit alleging price-fixing for shipping cargo in the Puerto Rico trade lane.

The suit is being heard in the US District of Puerto Rico. It was brought by plaintiffs who purchased transportation services directly Sea Star, and is seperate from a U.S. Department of Justice antitrust investigation that resulted in convictions of some former executives at Sea Star and Horizon Lines.
