LA Weight Loss Settles Diet Supplement Wrongful Death Suit for $700,00

Madison County, Il: A lawsuit brought by the estate of Pamela Hoppe against LA Weight Loss Centers Inc, has been settled for $700,000.

The suit alleged that Hoppe sought help losing weight in 2004 and was given diet supplements that had not been tested or regulated by the FDA. Hoppe later developed symptoms of liver disease and went to a medical center for treatment. However, she was later transferred to St. Louis University Hospital where she was diagnosed with liver failure. The supplements were determined to be the cause.

She was subsequently placed on a liver transplant list, but died of liver failure in August, 2004.
