Warren County, NY: A man who suffered serious injury as a result of a brake job on this vehicle, will receive $225,000 as an out-of-court settlement from the garage that did the repair.
In 2005, Gregory Perkins had a special brake system installed in his car that would make it more suitable for mail delivery. However, a brake cable allegedly malfunctioned, so he returned to the shop where they repaired the brake. But the repair apparently failed, causing the vehicle to roll down a hill and crash, leaving Mr. Perkins with fractures to his elbow and fingers. So he sued the shop, alleging negligence, and after some negotiation, the shop agreed to the settlement to avoid a trial.
