Settlement Reached In Dell Discrimination Class Action

This is a settlement for the Civil / Human Rights lawsuit.

A preliminary settlement has been reached between Dell and former employees who brought a gender discrimination class action against the computer company. The settlement is for a reported $9.1 million, $5.6 million of which will go the plaintiffs and to cover litigation costs.

The terms of the settlement also provide for a portion of the funds to be paid to women who worked for Dell in the US for at least one day in certain job classifications, between February 14, 2007 and December 31, 2008, the Austin Business Journal reports.

The lawsuit was filed in October 2008 by Jill Hubley, a former Dell Human Resources manager, who alleged that Dell had a pattern of gender discrimination towards its female employees regarding compensation and promotion.
