Aetna Settles with New York State for $20 Million

New York Attorney General Andrew M. Cuomo's office has settled with Aetna over allegations that the insurance company used a manipulated system to inadequately reimburse hospitals and doctors for out-of-network services.

The $20 million settlement is to be paid by Aetna in installments over 5 years, at Cuomo's request. Aetna will also pay $60,000 to cover costs of the New York investigation of the company.
