Hotel Food PoisoningBirmingham, England: (Feb-14-08) A lawsuit was brought against tour operators Thomson Holiday (TUI) and JMC-Thomas Cook, alleging that travelers on holiday suffered from different varieties of food poisoning at the Beach Club Hotel in Torremolinos, Spain. The suit claimed that over 1,000 British travelers had stayed at the hotel and had experienced such problems between 2002 and 2005. According to the plaintiffs' legal counsel, the suit is the largest group action settlement of its kind. Sources close to the case stated that the parties had reached a settlement, in which the long-running legal action over conditions at the hotel was resolved with a £2.5 million group settlement. However the hotel management, Thomson Holiday and JMC-Thomas Cook had always denied responsibility for the outbreaks. [
