Credit Counseling

Boise, ID: (Jan-18-08) The Idaho Department of Finance filed charges against Dallas-based Credit Solutions of America Inc., alleging that the company engaged in unlicensed credit counseling. The suit was brought after the department received information in May 2007 that suggested that Credit Solutions of America had contracted with Idaho debtors to provide debt settlement services, which amounts to credit counseling under Idaho law. Sources close to the case confirmed that the parties had reached a settlement, under which Credit Solutions agreed to pay $588,000 in restitution to Idaho consumers over the next six months. Additionally, the company also paid the department $3,000 to cover investigative expenses and attorney fees. [IDAHO STATESMAN: CREDIT COUNSELING]

As a result of their negligence, my credit rating has now been considerably damaged (making it almost impossible to secure a personal loan), the amount I owed has significantly increased and I have paid a substantial amount to the company for services that do not appear to have been rendered.
