Settlements and Verdicts Wrestler Estate
Calgary, AB: (Jan-02-08) Michael Benoit, the father of Canadian pro wrestler Chris Benoit, has been locked in litigation over his late son's estate. Records show that Chris Benoit killed his wife, his seven-year-old son and then himself in June 2007. In his suit, Michael Benoit, who lives in Alberta, stated that proceeds from the estate should be evenly split between his son's two children from a previous marriage and the family of his slain wife Nancy. The suit alleged that the estate consists of two homes, several bank and investment accounts and other assets, estimated at $1.5 million to $3 million Canadian dollars.
As part of a settlement reached, sources close to the case stated that Michael Benoit had entered into a verbal agreement, resolving the dispute. The estate will be split evenly after lawyers' fees are deducted.
