Wastewater ViolationsLancaster, OH: (Dec-17-07) The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) brought charges against Cyril-Scott, a specialty printing company based in Pleasant Township, over violations of the company's wastewater treatment plant. The parties reached a settlement in August 2006, requiring the company to discontinue use of its wastewater treatment plant and connect to the city's by the May 1, 2007 deadline owing to the inadequate operation and maintenance of the plant. Additionally, the company was also required to pay an $80,000 fine to resolve allegations. Sources stated that this is the second time the company has been required to pay a civil penalty because of EPA violations. The Pleasant Township company has taken steps to satisfy the agreement by annexing into Lancaster, which has the city's main sewer system.
