ADA Violations

Tuckahoe, NJ: (Oct-10-07) Karl Loose, a Pennsauken resident, brought a lawsuit against Township Hall alleging that Township Hall violated the Americans with Disabilities Act. In his lawsuit, Loose, who uses a wheelchair and has a form of multiple sclerosis, claimed the township restricted access to Township Hall in Petersburg and its lifeguard station in Strathmere. In a settlement reached, the township agreed to provide proper toilet elevation, make 20 more necessary improvements and pay Loose $10,000 through its Joint Insurance Fund, to end the lawsuit. Each of the 20 improvements will cost more than $20,000, to the township. Loose has sued various other public agencies for alleged ADA violations, including Belmar, Barnegat Light, Atlantic City and NJ Transit. [PRESS OF ATLANTIC CITY: ADA VIOLATIONS]
