Memorial Hospital of Tampa

This is a settlement for the Medical Malpractice lawsuit.

Tampa, FL: (May-26-07) Sally Lucia, a Tampa woman, filed a medical malpractice lawsuit against the Memorial Hospital of Tampa and two doctors, alleging that on account of their negligence, she lost her fingers and feet after an infection that incurred after a tummy tuck surgery in 2001. Though other doctors were listed in the lawsuit, those claims were dismissed or settled before the trial. Following the trial, the jury confirmed that the Memorial Hospital of Tampa and two doctors acted negligently when Lucia came to the hospital with an infection after the operation. As a result of the infection, Lucia, 47, lost all her fingers and much of her legs. Lucia incurred about $1-million in medical bills. In a settlement reached, Lucia was awarded $30 million ending the malpractice lawsuit. [BAY NEWS: INFECTION AND AMPUTATION]
