Russell County, AL: (May-15-07) Russell County Administrator LeAnn Horne filed a gender discrimination lawsuit against former Commissioner Tillman Pugh, alleging that he discriminated against hiring her as the county's full-time administrator in 1999.The county commission reached a settlement with Horne last September, leaving Pugh as the sole defendant. He is still covered by the Alabama County Commissioners Association-Self Insurance Fund, which is responsible for providing him with legal representation. In a settlement reached, the Russell County Commission agreed to pay Horne personal injury damages, attorney fees and a four-year contract for the administrator at $65,000 a year. The settlement agreement included a commission agreement to review and update all of Russell County's employment discrimination and/or sexual harassment policies.
