Bransom Elementary School District

Burleson, TX: (Apr-05-07) After Principal Justin Kirk was asked to leave Bransom Elementary School following a suspension without any cause, he requested a public hearing before the school board. Administrators suspended Kirk in January 2007 and the district agreed to pay Kirk a lump sum of $30,000 in a negotiated settlement. The settlement agreement stated that though Kirk's contract will expire June 8, 2008, he will remain on administrative leave with pay through the remainder of his contract period, although he will not be required to report for work during that time. He will be paid his monthly salary and all benefits, including teacher retirement, less the usual deductions. The school district will not pursue any adverse employment action against Kirk, including the proposed termination and non-renewal of his contract with the district. In return Kirk agreed to dismiss both of his requests for a public hearing. [BURLESON CROWLEY: PRINCIPAL TERMINATION]
