Vatterott Educational Centers Inc.

Quincy, MA: (Feb-07-07) The US Department of Labor filed suit against Vatterott Educational Centers for violations of the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act. The investigation took place during the latter part of 2005 and into 2006. The initial investigation began with two Vatterott locations in Omaha, NE, and was eventually expanded to include all but one of the college's 17 other campuses at the time. Violations included misclassification of non-exempt office employees as exempt from overtime rules, uncompensated overtime for hourly employees that was not authorized, and failure in some instances to simply pay the overtime premium for hours worked over 40 per week. The company has agreed to future compliance with the Fair Labor Standards Act, apart from voluntarily paying $191, 246. [QUINCY HERALD WHIG: VATTEROTT OVERTIME]
