University of Michigan

Detroit, MI: Jennifer Gratz and Patrick Hamacher filed a class action lawsuit against the University of Michigan alleging the university's admission policies discriminated against white students like themselves. The US Supreme Court ruled in 2003 that the undergraduate admissions policy discriminated against white students. The University of Michigan has reached a proposed settlement in the 1997 class action suit. Michael Rossman, an attorney for Gratz, said the proposal confirmed that this would include a modest monetary settlement. (Jan-26-07) [THE DETROIT NEWS: U of M DISCRIMINATION]
