City of Arlington TX

Arlington, TX- The City of Arlington, using the right of "eminent domain", took property from more than 90 people to make room for the new Dallas Cowboys football stadium. Originally, the city offered homeowner Evelyn Wray $350,000. She and others rejected the initial offer. Wray filed a lawsuit against the City of Arlington and the sports authority that condemned the land which is now Ameriquest Field. The City of Arlington City Council unanimously approved a $2.75 million settlement for Wray. The closed case is just one of the 93 lawsuits filed against the city related to the property acquisition for the Cowboys project. Most are still pending in county courts. (Sep-13-06) [WFAA NEWS]
