Kootenai County

Donald Paradis was sentenced to death in 1980 in the strangling of Kimberly Palmer in northern Idaho. He was freed in 2001 after the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a lower court ruling that he had been denied a fair trial. Paradis sued for wrongful imprisonment after his conviction was overturned. Kootenai County has agreed to pay $900,000 to the former Idaho death row inmate. (Aug-17-06) [SEATTLE POST INTELLIGENCER]
