Xentel Inc.
South Carolina's secretary of state office filed charges against the telemarketing company for allegedly violating the state's charitable contributions law. Xentel conducted fundraising campaigns in South Carolina for the American Association of State Troopers, Professional Firefighters and EMS Providers. The Florida based company was accused of failure to disclose that callers were paid solicitors and misrepresenting how the money would be spent. Xentel has agreed to pay a $100,000 fine and has been prohibited from calling South Carolinians until 2009. (May-09-06)
