City Streets and Jake Aaron Strickland
This is a settlement for the DUI/DWI lawsuit.
After a Christmas Party in 2003, Julie Jones and her husband Brent Jones were headed home when they got into a head on collision. Jake Aaron Strickland had been drinking that night at City Streets bar and drove 70 mph the wrong way down a one-way street when he struck Jones' Chevrolet Tahoe. Brent Jones was killed in the accident. Julie and their twin children filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Strickland and City Street. Strickland had two prior convictions for driving while intoxicated; he was convicted of murder and was sentenced to 35 years in prison. Julie Jones has accepted a $1.2 million out of court settlement from the two defendants. (Apr-07-06)
