Pillowtex

Pillowtex manufactured towels, bed linens, pillows and other home furnishings, but in July 2003, the North Carolina based company filed for bankruptcy and closed its doors leaving more than 6,000 workers in 11 states jobless with little or no notice. The Union of Needletrades, Industrial and Textile Employees sought compensation for employees and Pillowtex agreed to a $13.5 million settlement. Each employee will be awarded approximately $2,000 to compensate for lost wages and vacation pay. (Feb-15-06) [EVENING SUN]
