Chi-Chi's Restaurant

In the fall of 2003, Richard Miller was one of 660 people sickened by scallions served at a Chi-Chi's near Pittsburgh. Four people died in the outbreak and several others suffered from hepatitis A, including Miller who needed a liver transplant. Chi-Chi's has agreed to award Miller a $6.25 million settlement. The Mexican restaurant chain has paid more than $40 million to settle hundreds of lawsuits over the outbreak and was forced to sell its restaurants last year. (Sep-30-05) [MSNBC]
