Merck & Co. FIRST VIOXX VERDICT

Texas widow, Carol Ernst, was awarded $253.4 million in damages for the death of her husband. He died of an arrhythmia while taking the painkiller Vioxx which was withdrawn from shelves in September 2004. (Aug-19-05)
