Ford Motor Co.
The second largest U.S. automaker has agreed to settle a class action lawsuit for defective intake manifolds. Up to 2 million Mercury Grand Marquis, Lincoln Town Cars and Ford Crown Victorias are included in the consumer settlement. Car owners will receive at least $735 reimbursement for repairs made on faulty manifolds. Vehicle owners alleged that Ford installed plastic intake manifolds that were prone to cracking and caused coolant leaks on some 1996 to 2001 models. If every customer files a claim, the settlement could cost Ford as much as $375 million. (Jun-18-05)
