Madison, WI: A young girl who lived through a devastating amusement park accident almost two years ago is recovering and is now able to walk on her own. The girl, who was 12 years old when she suffered a fractured spine and pelvis in the horrific theme park accident in 2010, fell 100 feet to the ground after a miscommunication on a ride at an amusement park. Doctors were not sure if she would recover from her theme park injuries.

Washington, DC: WorldVariety Produce, Inc. of Los Angeles, CA is recalling Serrano Peppers, because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.

Milwaukee, WI: The full range of Effexor side effects on infants is not known, but some studies indicate a risk of permanent birth defects. Another reported side effect of prenatal exposure to Effexor is the potential for withdrawal. One study, published in Ned Tijdschr Geneeskd in 2003, observed a number of symptoms of withdrawal in newborns, including restlessness, hypertonia, jitteriness, irritability and poor feeding.
