Concord, NH: An explosion and fire occurred yesterday at a gun and munitions plant in northern New Hampshire, killing two people. According to a report from the Associated Press (AP), the fire accident occurred just after 1 pm on May 14 at the MDM Muzzleloader factory in Colebrook, located about 140 miles north of Concord and ten miles from the Canadian border.

Farmington, NH: The rules that govern the distribution of social security disability are forcing a 47-year-old woman dying of cancer to wait five months for her benefits—even though she was approved for aid in January and was found to have become disabled under administration rules November 1. Heather Russell will finally take delivery of her first check on May 19.

Durham, NH: A confirmed case of gastrointestinal anthrax has been found in a woman from Strafford County, NH. On December 26, the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) announced that they are investigating the source of the anthrax, which has struck fear among residents in the surrounding area.

Orford, NH: Attorney Robin Curtiss recently settled a lead paint poisoning case on behalf a girl who was negatively affected by the lead paint in her family's rented home during the 1990s. The terms of the settlement require that Curtiss, and anyone else for that matter, refrain from identifying the parties involved, but the case stands out because of the value of the settlement and because lead paint cases continue to come forward despite what is known about the issue.
