Anchorage, AK: No workers were injured nor oil spilled when an exploratory well being used by a new company at Alaska's North Slope had an apparent blow-out involving drilling mud on February 15, The Associated Press reported.

Trapper Creek, AK: Two single-engine float airplanes collided in mid-air Saturday afternoon near Trapper Creek, Alaska, killing four people. The pilot of the second plane (the only person aboard) made an emergency landing in Anchorage. This is the second airplane crash in Alaska this month.

Del Monte Recalls Cantaloupes Because Of Possible Salmonella Panama Contamination

Washington, DC: Del Monte Fresh Produce N.A., Inc. (“Del Monte Fresh”) of Coral Gables, Florida is recalling 4,992 cartons of cantaloupes, each containing 4 plastic mesh sleeves with 3 cantaloupes per sleeve, because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella Panama, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella Panama often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella Panama can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.

Since she started taking Chantix, Kerri says she has had terrible nightmares, thoughts of suicide and aggressive behavior.

Dillingham, AK: Four survivors have been rescued from the small plane crash near Dillingham, AK on Monday, August 9th. Sadly, five others, including former Sen. Ted Stevens, were found dead. The National Transportation Safety Board officials hiked to the scene Wednesday and began examining the wreckage. They hope to interview the survivors once their medical conditions are stable.

Anchorage, AK: Three people are believed to have been killed in a cargo plane crash in Denali National Park in Alaska on Sunday. The names of the dead have not been released, as authorities were still working to identify the remains on Monday so they could notify the next of kin.

Anchorage, AK: Four US servicemen were killed in a plane crash in Alaska, the Associated Press (AP) reported this morning. The four airmen were riding in a cargo plane during a training procedure when the aircraft, a C-17, crashed and burned in a fireball at the Elmendorf Air Force base in Anchorage.
