Texas Woman, Disabled, Files Unum Lawsuit

McKinney, TX: An Unum lawsuit filed in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas pits Unum insurance against a policyholder with a litany of medical problems verified by the plaintiff's medical team. The lawsuit stems from Unum's denial of long-term disability benefits in spite of, it has been alleged, rather obvious medical reasons that suggest the plaintiff is entitled to benefits.

Unum Plays God

Dayton, OH: "You missed the deadline to return the paperwork we sent" is like saying "Your check is in the mail." It's likely another bad faith practice by Unum, a tactic to stop paying long term disability benefits to a policy holder. That one sentence gave Unum the power to play God and irrevocably ruin Deborah's life.

Unum Group Shares Fall Sharply following 4Q Loss

Is Unum Group in the Mining Business or Insurance Business?

New Orleans, LA: The insurance industry in general and Unum in particular appear to be more inclined toward the mining business, rather than the insurance business. Mining, as in mining the depths for reasons to deny or discontinue benefits to policyholders. Many a Unum lawsuit makes such an allegation, and there appears to be plenty of examples.
