After she came down with a fever, more Motrin was prescribed, along with Tylenol. But Riley got worse. It wasn't long before she was diagnosed with Stevens Johnson Syndrome (SJS), a life-threatening condition affecting the skin and mucous membranes.

New Brunswick, NJ: Last week, pharmaceutical manufacturer Johnson & Johnson issued a voluntary recall of about 40 over-the-counter children's medications, including Children's Motrin, Tylenol and Benadryl. While Reuters is reporting that at least 1,500 product lots have been affected, a spokesperson for the FDA told the news source that it is unclear exactly how many bottles were affected.

Spokane, WA: Brianna's 18-month-old daughter, Mackenzie, was given Children's Motrin in hospital after she had minor surgery. Three days after she was sent home Mackenzie was rushed back to the hospital--she had developed Stevens Johnson Syndrome. The doctors told Brianna it was the most severe form of SJS Children's Motrin they had ever seen.
