Western Canada Lottery Corporation is facing a class action suit based on allegations that the lottery allows Scratch-and-Win tickets to be sold after the top prizes have already been won.
To date, 20 people have signed onto the class action, which seeks no less than $100 million in damages. The suit, which also names lottery commissions in Alberta, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and the Yukon as defendants, has yet to be certified.
In addition to the financial compensation, the suit seeks to have the lottery corporation and commissions adopt the US practice of removing Scratch-and-Win tickets from stores once the the top prize has been won.
