Squeaky Joints

Patients are experiencing strange squeaking and noises from their ceramic artificial joints, and are wondering if it is an indication of something wrong with the joints.

Some complain it is interfering with their daily life, citing embarrassment and annoyance, when strange noises come from their joints at inappropriate times.

So far, no serious mishaps have occurred, but surgeons fear that the ceramic parts may shatter and leave patients with multiple shards in their bodies.

The joint-maker Stryker has been warned by the FDA for failing to take steps to prevent the squeaking. Last year they recalled ceramic hip parts from their factory in Ireland when sterility specifications were not met.
