Firex Carbon Monoxide and Smoke Alarms Recalled

The Maple Chase Company has issued a recall on its Firex smoke and carbon monoxide alarms after finding a defect in the product. Apparently the alarm goes into "double chirp" mode when it detects carbon monoxice before going into full alarm mode, putting people at risk of injury or death.

About 16,000 of the models in the 10,000 and 12,000 series, manufactured between Jun-01-07 and Feb-01-08 are affected by the recall.

The company can be contacted at: 1-888-879-3906.
