Les Schwab

A class action lawsuit was filed against the tire company by two former employees, alleging they were denied promotions, training and other employment opportunities because they are women. The suit was filed in U.S. District Court in Seattle. The women state in the lawsuit they were denied promotions because of their gender, even though they were willing to relocate to move into management. The lawsuit further claims that the company has a record of discrimination, saying it has never hired a female manager for its retail stores. Les Schwab has 400 retail tire centers. In a statement issued August 25, 2005 the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission found "reasonable cause" to believe the discrimination charges are true.
