GM Issues Massive Recall for 19 Different Vehicle Types

Faulty Wiring and Defective Windshield Wipers to Blame

General Motors has issued a recall of 857,735 2007-2008 vehicles equipped with heated windshield wiper fluid systems, due to a potential short-circuiting problem. A short circuit could result in other electrical features in the vehicles malfunctioning.

The models involved are 2007-2008 model year Chevrolet Silverado, Tahoe, Avalanche and Suburban, Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV and Escalade EXT, GMC Acadia, Sierra, Yukon, Yukon XL and Saturn Outlook; 2006-2008 Hummer H2, Cadillac DTS and Buick Lucerne; and the 2008 Buick Enclave.

GM is also recalling 88,809 model-year 2008 Buick Enclaves and 2007-2008 model year GMC Acadia and Saturn Outlook SUVs in 28 states and Washington, D.C. because the windshield wipers may not function properly in heavy snow or ice.
