Chrysler Faces Defective Dodge Dart Transmission Class Action Lawsuit

- by

Detroit, MI: Chrysler Group LLC is facing a defective autmotive class action lawsuit filed in California federal court, alleging the automaker concealed a manual transmission clutch defect in its 2013-14 Dodge Dart vehicles, causing the transmission to fail to engage, as well as other acceleration issues.

According to the lawsuit, Chrysler knew that the vehicles equipped with manual transmission feature a defective hydraulic clutch system that does not function as expected and is instead plagued by numerous problems and safety concerns. But the automaker allegedly chose to hide the defect from customers, continuing to market the vehicle as "[r]obust and reliable."

"As a result of their reliance on defendant' omissions and/or misrepresentations, owners and/or lessees of the class vehicles suffered an ascertainable loss of money, property and/or value of their class vehicles, including but not limited to out-of-pocket costs related to repairs to the manual transmission,"the complaint states.

Filed by lead plaintiffs Joshua and Marta Hardt, the lawsuit entitled Hardt et al v. Chrysler Group LLC, case number 8:14-cv-01375, states that the Hardts bought a new 2013 Dodge Dart equipped with a standard manual transmission in September 2012. This April, they began to notice signs of the transmission defect. Specifically, the plaintiffs claim their vehicle began backfiring and turning off at a stoplight, failing to start again.

The Hardts had their vehicle was towed to an authorized Chrysler dealer, but the service adviser was unable to detect any fault codes and stated that the condition was not present when inspected, according to the lawsuit. About a month later, the plaintiffs contacted Chrysler customer service to report that when they attempted to start the vehicle and depressed the clutch pedal, the clutch went to the floor of the vehicle, according to the suit. But after yet another inspection at a dealership, the plaintiffs were told no problem could be found, the complaint states.

"Despite the repair attempts by Chrysler and its dealers, plaintiffs continue to experience the transmission defect, including but not limited to grinding, harsh engagement and premature internal wear,"the complaint states.

According to the lawsuit, consumer complaints with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration show that Chrysler was aware of the manual transmission defects at least by 2012, but the automaker failed and refused to disclose the defects to consumers.

The lawsuit is seeking national certification for a class of consumers who purchased or leased any 2013-14 Dodge Dart vehicles equipped with Chrysler's manual transmission.

The lead plaintiffs are represented by Jordan L. Lurie, Robert Friedl, Tarek H. Zohdy and Cody R. Padgett of Capstone Law APC.

I have a 2013 dart that is currently in an independent repair shop with a failed clutch slave cylinder, they have already installed two new cylinders that they purchased from dodge and they both leaked so now they are stumped. The original slave cylinder was replaced under warranty in 2014 after a lot of wrangling with Dodge but we still have had issues with this clutch pedal sticking over the years that the Dodge dealer refused to address. I don't know what we are going to do next and since Dodge is still in denial mode over this issue it's unlikely that we will get any guidance out of them.

I bought a 2013 dodge dart and now it sits and has been sitting for 3 month as I cant afford to fix it. I bought the car with only 998 miles on it. it currently has 54,000 miles . the car acts as if the clutch is slipping. this car has been garage kept and maintanced regularly. I have great disappointment in this car as it is the closes thing to brand new I have ever bought. its sad that my 700 dollar truck is more reliable than this 20,000 dollar car. I believe FCA should step up and fix this proplem

Purchased a Used 2015 Dodge Dart GT, 6-psd manual with 35000 miles on it. After having it a few months and putting 5000 - 6000 miles on the vehicle we started having clutch problems. It started to engage slower and slower until my wife was on the highway taking our daughters to cheer practice and the clutch went out entirely.

We had it towed to the local Dodge Dealer and was told that the clutch needed to be replaced, “due to vehicle abuse”. Now the thing that most people don’t know is that the 2013-2016 Dodge Dart is equipped with something called a “CDV”. That is a Clutch Delay Valve, which prevents the clutch from being engaged too quickly and damaging or wearing out the clutch prematurely. So with that item equipped it is theoretically impossible to abuse the clutch on that car.

I spoke with people at Dodge headquarters in Michigan and got the same response over and over again, they would not cover anything due to the vehicle being out of warranty and the items concerned. Mainly the clutch because it is a “wearable” component and not covered under any warranties.

Now I am a Certified Auto Technician and have been for over 10 years. I finally had the chance to pull the car apart and what I found was something I have never before seen on a vehicle. The clutch disc had been completely shredded and had no material left, it was stuck dis-engaged from the flywheel because for some reason that I’m not entirely sure of the pressure plate disc had broken if 5 different places. The flywheel is scored and they are “dual-mass” flywheels that are a dealer only part that costs $1200, they cannot be machined. The clutch slave cylinder/throw out bearing is also a dealer only part costing about $400.

So now I’m left with a vehicle that we are still paying on and will have to pay out $2000 alone in parts to be able to drive the car again.

It is completely insane that a car with barely 42000 miles should have the clutch go out on it, especially in that way. They have to be faulty parts or something. There’s no reason for it to happen and then to have the dealer accuse me of abusing the car. Not to mention Dodge that refuses to do anything to help their customers, it’s really very sad that a company would do that to the people that keep them in business.

I have a 2013 Dart sxt 6 1.4 speed manual, with 83000 miles , i lived many all those issues related to the transmission , ignition and turbo, I have to drive all time with a scanner, because you never know when is coming again some rare symptom.
I decided to drive prepared and repaired it for myself each time when this happened, because from i learn that the main reason was a new car with out history or update and improvements , just coming from the Alfa Romeo Giullieta platform a good car in Europe, and systems common with Fiat 500. Thes two vehicles are made in Europe, the 500 was in America one year before the Dart and the Alfa was in the european market from 2010 with good comments.
today 500 have around 70 complaints since 2012, the Dart is next to 400 one year after the 500, the difference is where was made each one, and the dealership. is really expensive and not qualified for this kind of vehicles.

my 2014 Dodge Dart is sitting in the driveway because I can't drive it due to the clutch not working. I took it to Nyle Maxwell to see about getting it repaired and was told it was the slave cylinder which is not under warranty and will cost 1400.00 to repair. what good is a warranty then? I need your help to get this repaired or to get another car.they will not respond to calls or my emails now.

Two years ago I bought a 2013 Dodge dart Rallye 1.4 turbo 6 speed. With in the first three months I had to have the turbo replaced along with some ignition boots. When all was said and done and I paid the bill it was going strong for about another 3 month then I stopped at a Walmart to get some food. Went back to my car started it up then I put it in to gear to leave and it wouldn't go into gear. Like there wasnt any gears at all. So mad and all I had the car towed home angry that I have had so much problems with the car already. Yeah it had some miles on it but this shouldn't of been happening this soon after two years of the car being released. Well the problem with the transmission was a shift rad that sat on top of the transmission. Being pretty good at working on cars I decided to say screw the dealership and fix it myself. I found the part at Rock Auto for about $40 and replaced it well here in the past few months I have realized that sometimes when I shift out of gear it's like the gear shifter doesn't want to go into gear. Really stiff to move between the neutral. Also to add when I go to shift into first from neutral. It acts like the clutch isn't engaged. To end my rant of transmission problems that I've been have for the past few months. I hear this squeaking noise when releasing the clutch. So let all get this problem fixed!

I have a 2015 dodge dart I had the transmission, a manual. Replaced in the first 6000 miles, now at 39000 the transmission clutch exploded and caught the engine on fire. Insurance is saying I hit something. I did not. This seems to be a mtg defect. I'm seeking help. Beware

Dodge Dart Limited 2013 Purchased New January 201. At 20,000 miles gas pedal sticks to floor and will not return. Cylinder not covered by warranty $400 estimated out of pocket for repair.

At 23,000 miles receives P0299 trouble code for turbo underboost. Has not been checked out by dealer.

Never received extension of warranty letter for master cylinder like some have.

I also have 2013 Dodge Dart
I have already replaced the clutch. Also today I woke up with the stick shift not able to go into reverse. There was only 50000 kilometres on it when the clutch went.

I have 2014 Dodge Dart Rally. Bought it with 15 miles on it. Have had engine problems since 6 months after purchase. Engine stalls and goes out. Dealership said it needed updated sent back did it over and over again. The dealer stays they can never replicate the pro lem but does it for me all the time. Still paying on a car that doesn't function properly. Never again buy a dodge. Terrible that they allow these cars to be made like this and then do nothing about it. Terrible!

2013 Dodge Dart. Clutch sticks to the floor Intermittently after the car has been parked for a while. I have to pump the clutch or roll the car to get the car out of gear. The clutch has behaved this way since I bought the car but only every couple of months and I was never able to replicate the problem at the dealership. The problem is now getting worse and more frequent with just over 90,000 kms.

UPDATE:
With reference to my comments made yesterday, May 25th...
I called my regular mechanic (not dealer) and asked if he did transmission work...he stated that they didn't go inside the transmission but would take a look at it to determine if it was inside or outside problem.
I knew that the car would drive in reverse and 1st gear but didn't know beyond that. I started down the road in 1st and shifted to 2nd...engine just revved, went back to 1st to gain some speed and shifted to 3rd...it worked. Tried shifting to 4th...not working, so I tried 5th...it worked. 6th did not. From that, I figured that it was a cable problem and nothing more serious.
When the mechanic took it for a test drive, he thought the same thing. Looking under the hood, he saw that the cable that controls 2nd, 4th, and 6th, was disconnected but seemed that all the parts were there. He reached under the hood and pushed the connector bushing back on until it snapped into place...problem solved...NO CHARGE!
I'm just wondering if the dealer could have solved the problem without replacing the transmission...or clutch, pressure plate, and clutch release bearing?

I purchased a 2013 Dodge Dart SXT, 1.4L Turbo, 6 speed transmission. This car is my retirement car...it's not driven hard but hardly driven. I only have 4300 miles on it. Today, after stopping for a stop sign, I put it into first and started around the corner. When I pushed the clutch in and shifted to second gear, the engine revved up, the dash lights for oil and battery came on, and the car would not accelerate in 2nd gear. I downshifted to first and I accelerated and tried shifting to 2nd again. The car seemed as though there wasn't any gears in the transmission. I tried third gear and nothing. I made it home in first gear, only 5 blocks, and when home, I shut the engine off. After 5 minutes, I checked the oil...oil ok. No apparent leaks either. Battery started the car just fine, and all lights are off. I could shift into reverse and first gear ok, but shifting into 2nd through 6th was difficult and gear ratio wouldn't let me move in those gears anyhow.
Tomorrow, I plan on taking it to an independent service business instead of the dealership, after all, the warranty has expired long ago, regardless of mileage. I will not be doing any business with Chrysler in the future.

2013 Dart Rallye bought with 10 miles on it new. Has been to shop at least 5 times for front end grinding noise they claim dealer cannot find/hear. Then last week my daughter who is 21 and in college drove it to work car would not come out of drive, key stuck in ignition, she could not shut car off. Called AAA who disconnected battery for car to be towed to home- luckily we had the 200 miles free tow. Car now has front end clicking kind of noise upon acceleration. Car has never been 100% and needs to be recalled altogether. Chrysler Dodge should be ashamed and charged with Fraud and deceptive trade practices.

Purchased my car with 3k miles on it. Had a new engine, 2 transmissions, 2 TCM's, a PCM, bluetooth, and struts replaced under 32k. Had wheel bearing replaced this week and car won't shift over 4th gear when driving. Only have 43k on it. On my 7th ticket with Dodge direct. Looking for advice. They won't take it back, trade it for a non-Aero model that works, or anything. They just keep making me take off work and get rentals so they can keep trying to fix it. Doesn't seem right. Any advice is appreciated. I like the car a lot when it runs well for those few weeks between new issues. Car is dangerous to drive.

Have owned my 2013 Dodge Dart with 6 speed MTsince January 2016. Since buying it I have had issues with gauges freezing constantly, turbo underboosting, clutch not engaging, sticking to the floor, RPMs riding high when clutch is engaged. Dodge Is trying to overcharge on 60,000 mile service too. This car is constantly having issues.

I just came back from the dealer today with the news I expected. My 2014 dart gt has 19,300 and needs a new clutch assembly. It's started slipping in second gear a week or so ago and now slips in 2nd, 3rd, 5th and 6th. Been driving stick for 36 years. Never had a clutch go out even on cars nearing 75,000. Good old Dodge, though won't admit a problem and certainly won't fix it unless I pay $2,000. for the repair cost.

I purchased a 2014 Dodge dart , it had 16,000 mile on it at the time of purchase, i have since only put 3000 miles on it and the clutch is shot. Thr dealer says its a wear item and is not covered. Chrysler says its a wear item and is not covered. My complaint is that all these issues with clutch master cylinders and clutch slave cylinders will cause premature clutch wear causing failure and should be covered under this same repair and suit.

I recently purchased 2013 dodge dart S.X.T multi air turbo 1.4 liter 6 speed manual transmission. I am having a issue between 1,2,3 gear with it being gut less. Seems you have to ride clutch to get it to engage proper. All maintenance been done; I have been driving manual most my life. I talked to Benford were purchased this car from. Told me everything is fine on this car. There is a sensor for maintenance comes on? Does it sense mechanical trouble?

Within days of purchase of a Dart in 2013 we reported a strange odor when we engaged the clutch for left hand turns. The issue could not be duplicated by dealer and we later determined it was hydraulic fluid from the master clutch cylinder burning on the hot clutch plates. Then in the summer of 2015 my clutch for our 2013 Dart went. Of course we were told that it was our fault and we needed to pay for repairs. Then in December of 2015 it went again and were able to get it repaired at Dodge expense and get re-reimbursed for the previous repairs (due to the class action suit) . Now, 8 months later we are at it again replacing the clutch master cylinder (the root cause of the problem). Dodge is loading up the Dart gun with another possible clutch failure. When the clutch pedal goes to the floor in the middle of an intersection your blood pressure spikes and the chance of injury increases. fingers are crossed.

I purchased my 2014 Dodge Dart in April of 2014 with only 13 miles on it. As of today I have 44,600 miles and just had it towed last night. My clutch stuck to the floor a few times in the past few months but nothing to alarming so I didn't have it looked at. Yesterday I noticed a slight burning smell and while driving the RPM's were going up but the speed was not. I barely made it to a repair shop where I was told my clutch was do and possibly other issues. I contacted Chrysler Roadside Assistance which was helpful and towed my car to the dealership where I now wait to hear if it's going to be covered under the hydraulic clutch/ powertrain warranty. I have hated this car from the day I was stupid and made the mistake on purchasing it. I was lied to by the Dodge dealership along with very upside down on what the POS is worth and what I still owe on it. Lesson learned, NEVER buy another Dodge. My first and my LAST.

2013 Dart, since purchasing, while I love the car, I have had strange shifting issues, changing gear issues, bucking into gear, higher gears choking a bit as if in too low a gear, and acceleration issues. Now.....my clutch burned out. I have a little over 5o,ooo miles on the car and I am told this is very early to need a clutch as an experienced manual driver. Cannot believe Chrysler knew there were issues and still just charges you to replace as if it is our fault.

I have a 2013 Dodge Dart Limited with 1.4 turbo manual transmission.

I had the same problem throughout the summer and fall of 2015. My car had only 16,000 miles on it when it showed problems. In the winter I drove the car 100 miles to the Dodge Dealership while it was stuck in 3rd gear.

They identified that the hydraulic master cylinder for the clutch was leaking. After replacing it under warranty and it works since then.

I understand what all of you are saying with the issues with the Dodge Dart clutch. I am currently experiencing the same problem with the clutch sticking to the floor it's a 2013 Dart. My problem s started 3 months ago and the car would not go into gear and I had to have it towed to my house. Approximately 2 months ago I had it towed to the dealer. I have 39000 miles on it and have run into the same issues as all of you that it is not covered under warranty. I realize that they say the clutch is considered a wear item but with all these problems you would think Chrysler would step up and do the right thing. My last 3 Dodge Neons over the last 20 years have all been standards and currently all 3 are still on the road with no clutch problems. My concern as a Chrysler employee is if my car will not get fixed then I guess we are all SCREWED. I did have pride in this company which my uncle retired from and my father still works there after 31 years and I am currently in my 24th year with Chrysler. My thoughts are if they don't care about there employees then I doubt that there is much hope that they will care about anyone else or for that matter the quality of the vehicles they are selling to the public. I hope that this helps to bring light to this situation. Sincerely, Paul J DeNoyelles Jr. New York Parts United Auto Workers Local 3039

I was driving home from work tonight and while on the freeway my clutch stuck to the floor of my 2013 Dodge Dart 1.4. (48,000miles)
Luckily I was near my exit or this may have been fatel. I managed to get the car into 2nd gear and drove it home without stopping. The car is now stuck in gear and the clutch pedal is stuck to the floor. Chysler needs to recognize this is serious and they should recall all vehicles before someone is seriously injured.

Bought Dodge Dart 2015 in October 2015. Mid July 2016 - this week and less than one year old - car stopped on highway. Dealer in Arlington Heights said the entire clutch system has failed and wants $3500 to fix it. Based on other posts here- seems Dodge is very aware of clutch problems with this car yet dealers are using it to do excessive work. Car has only 14,000 miles on it - mostly highway and I have been driving a stick for 9 years. Anyone esle seeing a questionable denial and lack of responsibility by dealers and Chrysler of a problem that seems to be a design defect?

I have a 2013 Dodge Dart Limited with 1.4 turbo manual transmission with 89000 miles and clutch pedal does not engage. The pedal sticks to the floor. I made an appointment to have the clutch fixed and took the car to the Dodge dealership to have the repair done. 2 days later called to have the car picked up. I was told that by the Dealership that they could not replicate the clutch problem. If Dodge knows this is a problem then a recall should be issued and not just to extend the warranty to 60,000 miles.

2013 Dodge Dart Aero:
I've been having problems with my clutch not engaging at high rpm. I have to wait with the clutch pedal to the floor until the rpm's come down, then it is still stiff going into gear. Sometimes it feels like a gate is closed on the shifter even when not merging into traffic, at low rpm's. I have noticed in the past 3 months that the transmission will shudder trying to back up a hill in reverse. I took my car to the dealership about the high rpm shift problem and they said they haven't had any other complaints about transmission problems and blamed my driving. Also at times, there is a smoky substance that emanates from the heater vents with the heater on, while stopping and sometimes cornering. It is so bad, I refuse to drive my daughter in the vehicle for worries it may cause health issues. I told the dealership about this problem and they said they couldn't recreate it. It only happens with the heater on. It has never happened with the air conditioning on. I speculate it is oil on the exhaust coming through the vents.

I have a 2015 dart. The clutch pedal is basically not there till half way after the car sits. It does "pump up" as you us it. spoke to dealer today and they said they have never had the problem reported but clutch and pressure plate isn't under warranty. I told him its not my first rodeo that it was the clutch slave cylinder that is bad. He didn't want to hear that.

I have a 2013 Dart GT I bought right off the truck. It only has 17,800 miles on it and the clutch just shattered. No warning or problems leading up to the failure and I have the plate that was taken out of it. It simply shattered there is no external wear at all. The dealer has had it for almost 4 weeks and Chrysler just said tuff luck we only cover them for 12,000 miles. I have driven this car across country twice and other than that it sets in a garage. It is over 90% highway miles. That clutch was barely ever Used! I am out a lot of money because I now it will just break again because Chrysler refuses to admit they are defective so as soon as I get it back I'm trading it off for a new car, and it will definitely not be a dodge!

I bought NEW a 2013 dart sxt with the 6 speed manual transmission. It was functioning just fine until Friday morning when I tried to go to work. Night before, just fine; next morning the shifter would not enter 1st or 2nd gears. It currently has 43,000 miles. I put the shifter into 1st gear and it moved in reverse; I then put it in reverse and the car moved in reverse; I could not put it into 2nd gear at all; 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th gears accepted shifter but I couldn't drive the vehicle without first and second. A tow truck took it to there dealership where I had to pay for the shifter to be replaced. I also had to pay for a loaner car because this was not covered under my warranty or extended warranty. I have owned and operated many manual cars in my 42 years of driving and have NEVER experienced a shifter failing to enter proper gear. Thinking of another vehicle at this point...and it won't be a Dodge.

I bought a brand new 2013 Dodge Dart gt. After about 10,000 miles the clutch went out on it. I was at a light and it stuck to the floor. Had to have it towed to the dealership who then told me it was the way I was driving my car! Took them 30 days to fix it because the part was on back order! Now I am at 29000 miles and the clutch is starting to go out again. And they are telling me I have no coverage on my warranty anymore. I hate dodge and I hate mopar! I will never buy either product ever again. I can't wait to get rid of my Dodge Dart!

I purchased a 2013 Dart with 50 miles on it in Oct of 2013. I started noticing an issue with the clutch about a month later. Took it to the deal they found no issues. A few months later I felt still had issues but they could fine nothing wrong with it. In Sept of 2014 not even a year into owning the car the clutch went to the floor and stayed there. I had the car towed to the nearest dealership where they told me there was nothing wrong with it and that all clutches are different. That some have to go to the floor to shift gears. They did not understand when I told them the clutch pedal stayed on the floor and was not coming back up. I was told it was how I was shifting. This went on for about 3 weeks. I took one of their mechanics for a test drive and he agreed it did not shift correctly. I was then told he was not a clutch/transmission mechanic and did not know what he was talking about. Yet they sent him with me!! After the 4th time I had it towed to them they finally started to look into it and told me the fly wheel was bad, the clutch was smoked and that none was covered under warranty. They can not help the way I drive. I contacted Dodge and was treated rudely many of my calls went unanswered. When I did talk to some one I was told there was nothing they could do because the clutch was not a warrantied item. Now about a year and a half later the car grinds going into 5th & 6th. I am done with this car!

I purchased a 2013 Dodge Dart 2 months ago with 28000 miles on it. Once it hit 35000 the clutch sticks to the floor and you have to shut off the ignition and use your foot to bring the pedal back up. It happens about once a week now. With so many cars with this problem why won't the dealerships acknowledge the malfunction. I am stuck in this car for a while now but I will never buy another dodge nor recommend to anyone

The clutch went out on my 2013 Dart and I was past the warrenty. When I contacted Chyrsler because I saw this is a common problem, they told me to hang on to the receipt because it is a common problem. They extended the warranty but it only cover a hose and the labor. So of over $1200 that was paid for repairs I was only reimbursed $200. On top of that when I called and asked to speak to a supervisor I was told I couldn't.

I Had rear breaks go bad at 30,000 miles. My dealership told me 10 year, 100,000 mile warranty does not cover a rusty break slide which made them stick and wear inner break pads down to the metal and ruin rotors also! This should never happen on a new car with only 30,000 miles, all other breaks are still like new! Shortly after replacing the rear breaks and rotors my clutch started slipping and am convinced my breaks sticking contributed to my clutch extra wear. I have owned many vehicles with manual transmissions and have never wore out a clutch or breaks in 30,000 miles!!!!! I am not very happy with the service or concern from DODGE about this and will NEVER buy a Chrysler vehicle ever again!

My 2014 Dodge Dart GT with manual has had the clutch sticking to the floor for about a year now. It has been getting worse and happens about every week now. I was going to bring it to the dealer but I am out of warranty. I then received a letter in the mail from Chrysler stating that the clutch may be defective and sticking to the floor. The warranty was extended for that part and I was encouraged to bring to my dealer immediately if I have any of those issues. I brought it to dealership and they informed me that the other issues they can fix that are not under warranty. The hydraulic clutch in all essence is perfectly fine. The dealership states my clutch assembly, release barring, and potentially the fly wheel. Honestly I have always loved Dodge, my car is paid off. The parts and labor to repair my vehicle is over $3000. I cannot reasonable afford this. I'm looking at potentially trading in my broken down car for a vehicle that I will have a car note on because Dodge messed up and doesn't want to pay for what they owe. C'mon, just get your act together and fix our vehicles.

I have a 2013 dart sxt with the 6 speed manual transmission. I have 60000 miles on it and just had to that the slave cylinder, release bearing, clutch, and pressure plate replaced. My problem started right after I bought it. The clutch pedal was not coming back up. I took it to the dealer they said the master cylinder was bad so they replaced it. Buthe it didn't fix the problem so I took it back and they blew me off until my warranty ran out. Now all the new problems I can't help but think they new the problem and just wanted myou warranty to run out so it wasn't there problem any longer. The shop I took it to this time said the springs in the pressure plate were all broke. I'm sure that was the problem all along is there anything I can do about this other than not buy a DODGE again?

Last year at 18,506 miles, Dodge Dart, purchased new, had clutch to go to floor. Dealer tried to tell me, I burned the clutch out. I have been driving sticks for 39 years and all transmissions on previous cars never ruined and are still on the road (gave to various grands). Dealer kept the car 1 month & told me it would be a charge to fix. Support # told me to take it to an independent repair for 2nd opinion. I did and had it fixed for $2600. Got letter about extending warranty and attached document to collect for any repairs already made. I am not certain they have addressed the real issue. I getting ready to call independent repair shop to see if this is a trick. Reading the above entries, I feel they have not stated the real reason for the problem.

My 2013 Dodge Dart Rally with manual has had the clutch sticking to the floor for about a year now. It has been getting worse and happens about every week now. I was going to bring it to the dealer but I am out of warranty. I then received a letter in the mail from Chrysler stating that the hydrolic clutch may be defective and sticking to the floor. The warrant was extended for that part and I was encouraged to bring to my dealer immediately if I have any of those issues. I brought to dealership and they claim they can't get the clutch to stick to floor after telling me they see the problem and will need the car for few days. I just got another call from the dealer and they tell me I have other issues they can fix that are not under warranty but won't fix the problem of the sticking clutch even though I gave them the letter showing the extended warranty for this problem. This is a safety issue and not sure what to do now.

I purchased a brand new 2015 dodge dart off the lot. It now only has 6000 miles on it and it has a six speed manual transmission and the syncronisers went out on it and the dealership indicated it will take 2 weeks to repair after having to tear into the transmission. I am disgusted with the chrysler manufacture because of having to pay insurance and car payemnt without having a car to drive. I bought this car for my son and due to him being 18 yrs of age they do no provide a loaner vehicle.

2013 Dodge Dart has $26,431 miles and the clutch burned out, which driving down the highway. We had it towed to the dealership and they want to charge us $2700 to fix. I contacted Dodge customer service, but they were not helpful. We are not getting it fixed. Decided we'll buy a car that is not a Dodge and have the new car dealership pick up the Dodge Dart from the dealership.

I have had my 2014 Dart into 2 different dealerships and had both the clutch and the transmission extensively repaired from 18,000 miles on....the engine revs when your foot is up off the clutch and the vehicle will not move when it does this. I was in the middle of crossing the highway with my 2 children in the car when it happened last time. The dealership can not get it to do it when they have it so Chrysler will not do anything. I am in the middle of trying to fight with a 3rd party arbitration company right now, which they say is the only way to do anything about it....this is after 5 months of going rounds with Chrysler! They don't care to stand behind their products and do not care about the safety concerns that they are causing! Their vehicles could kill families and they don't care to stand behind them! They are aware of the problem and refuse to take responsibility. My transmission makes noises and the clutch clatters. At this point we are afraid to even drive the car, so we pay $400 a month on a vehicle that is not safe to drive!

I have had nothing but issues with my dart from the date of my purchase. The dealer has brushed me off and barely wants to fix any of the problems!! My issues range from shaking at highway speeds after multiple allignment have been done. My car burns oil which is normal says a chrysler tech but that is not normal. My clutch pedal now is squeaky and I don't feel like it is safe! Please help

I just had to have the clutch replaced for my 2013 Dodge Dart for $2200. My wife drives the car and there was barely 25k on the odometer. Transmissions should last longer. Of course both the dealer and Dodge told us we should learn how to drive a manual. I thought that was insulting, I have been driving stick shift since I got my license, which was btw in the Netherlands.

My Dodge Dart clutch pedal is also sticking. I'm having to lift it up with my foot and pump it seven times to get it to work
again every time I drive it. It is also starting to make a chatter as I go into reverse. I contacted my dealership and they have notes to check it and replace it with another one. BUT it's not considered as a recall. The dealership said I would have to most likely pay for it out of pocket. It has 55,000 miles on it.
After reading up on this issue it looks like I'm not the only one with this problem. I'm not sure what to do.

My 2014 Dodge Dart Rallye's transmission blew up. This is after the engine had to be replaced last January. Chrysler is claiming it is driver error. And will not fix or replace. The car has 30000 miles on it. I never drive me car rough. I am a mother of 3 who uses it for work and to drive the kids around town. My kids and I were in the car when it happened and were extremely shaken up . It was death defying experience and my kids are afraid to get in cars now. By the way after the engine was replaced the car would not start and a huge puff of smoke came from the engine. I brought it into the dealership and they said nothing was wrong... condensation possibly. Also brought it back to the dealership because the engine was running very loud. They claimed it was due to my back tires needed to be replaced. Also brought it back because it was rough to shift it into gear. i would get stuck at traffic lights and stop signs not able to get into gear right away.

My 2013 Dodge Dart is an month old and I'm already having issues with the transmission. The car only has 6500 miles on it and the dealer keeps telling me that Chrysler hasn't released the transmission module to fix the problem. I'm very upset after purchasing this car and already having problems. How can we get help with this?

My 2015 Dodge Dart Aero purchased in April has had numerous problems. It will rev up RPM's and it won't idle out unless I turn off the car. There's a grinding sound in reverse, and as of today, the clutch is sticking to the floor.
IT'S A BRAND NEW CAR!!
It has 12,800 miles. There's NO WAY the clutch is going out. I've done my research and Darts are notorious for this defect. The 2015 model is no different.
I've taken it in to the dealership to have it looked at for all of the complaints I've described above and they could not replicate the sounds or problems.
It is a lemon car that is falling apart. I should have realized after my first Dodge Dart blew up on the freeway 30 minutes leaving the dealership. YES THAT'S RIGHT-
I had them bring in a different car, I refused to take the one that blew up.
Is this car a defect? Yes!! I'm outraged and want to give it back. Take back this lemon car!!!!!!!!!!

I also have a 2013 dart rallye . I have the same complaint as noted above. And bringing it in to dealers multiple times . Dealer would say could not replicate . Also I have 2 complaints with Chrysler customer care. Today is November 1st and my car is still in dealer going on 4 weeks . So far vender not supplying parts to fix Raven though I am paying for it. Parts to include new master cyl and new tubing

I bought a brand new 2013 Dodge Dart Rallye in September 2012. I notice at around 50,000 miles that the clutch pedal was dropped to the floor when I went to start my car. The car would not start. I needed to pull it up and then pump it a few times before it would stay up. The clutch would not function until after 5 or so pumps. This problem continues on a daily basis. Also, now the clutch is slipping at around 2.5 rpm's. The car has less then 60,000 miles on it. How will all consumers who purchased a 2013 Dodge Dart be notified of the class action lawsuit or the lawsuit outcome.

My transmission went out last night. Went to leave and there is no engagement with the stick to the transmission. I have a 2013 Dart and am very unhappy with this. I have not had my car for a year and am facing major repairs because they don't eat to disclose something like this!! I am irate and unsure what to do, but feel like this is something that I should not be made to pay for if there is a larger issue with the Dart.
