Lamplight Farms Inc. Announces Recall of 350,000 "Tiki Cone Metal" Torches Sold at Wal-Mart
On July 19th, Lamplight Farms Inc., a division of the Bradley Company of Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin announced the recall of about 350,000 "Tiki Cone Metal" Torches due to reports that the cover can loosen and spill, posing a serious burn hazard to consumers in addition to a risk to property.
Lamplight Farms says it has received one report of the lamp head coming off, after being bumped and spilling fuel, the lit wick igniting the fuel. The incident resulted in second and third degree burns to a customer.
The recalled Tiki® Cone Metal Torch is a 6-foot long, outdoor, open-flame lamp consisting of a black metal pole topped by a copper-colored, cone-shaped metal head. A black decorative rod spirals around the head of the torch. The torch head includes the fuel reservoir, cover and wick. It was sold under Lamplight Farms model numbers 1263 and 126301 and Wal-Mart item numbers 1656121 and 1691366. Both items were sold with the same UPC number 086861012635, which is located on the bottom of the printed hangtag.
This product was sold exclusively by Wal-Mart stores throughout the United States from December 2003 to early June 2005 at a typical cost of $9. Consumers are urged to stop using these Chinese manufactured torches and to return them to Wal-Mart for a refund.
