Americans for Responsible Leadership Face Robocalls Class Action Over Romney Campaign

- by

Washington, DC: According to a class action lawsuit filed this week, Arizona-based Americans for Responsible Leadership violated the Teleophone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) during the 2012 Mitt Romney presidential campaign by making illegal robocalls for the campaign.

Plaintiff Marlo Edholm, who filed the TCPA class action, claims she received at least five illegal robocalls from Americans for Responsible Leadership to her cellphone. The TCPA prohibits pre-recorded voice messages and auto-dialed calls to cellphones or other mobile devices. The only exceptions are if the calls are for an emergency or made with prior consent.
