Overdraft fees from Wells Fargo (all Banks ) Bank on checkin

Wachovia - number 1 in customer satisfaction?

Postby bruced3846 on Feb-02-07 1:10 pm

Only if you are satisfied when you are raked over the coals.

On 1/30/07 my balance was $215.49, on 1/31 charges totalling $177.58 were posted, resulting in a balance of $37.91. The next transaction on 1/31 is an OD Fee of $150.00, because even though I had money in the account, there was a hold from the debit card. The next day (I had still not been made aware) there were charges posted totalling $226.56, and a deposit of $50.00. OK, I was OD by $138.65, a check I forgot I wrote and a purchase by debit card. I admit to two OD's - $60.00 - but then the next posting was an OD Fee of $210.00 - total $360.00 for being OD two items if they posted it like WaMu does.

I'm writing to Clark Howard and everybody else who will listen here in Atlanta. I agree we need to file a class-action lawsuit against them. Anybody got a lwayer who will take it on consignment?

Wells Fargo posted 3 overdraft fees of $34 each onto my checking account on the same day in January 2008. On the day on for I was charged for clearing overdrawn transactions, I also deposited sufficient money into my checking account in a deliberate attempt to avoid the overdraft fee. I did this in person with a cashier and received a verbal communication that I would not be charged an overdraft fee, which later turned out to be incorrect, to the tune of a $112 debt.

I am willing to supply details of this case if action is taken against Wells Fargo to stop this practice. I know that the onus is on the customer to ensure he has sufficient funds in his account. In this instance I did everything I could to avoid the overdraft fee, admittedly at the last minute which subtracts somewhat from my onus.

I think the Wells Fargo uses the overdraft system with a degree of Bad Faith that is open to legal criticism.

Wells Fargo isn't the bank for us anymore. Yesterday I was charged $340.00 for overdraft fees. They put in the largest amounts first and work their way down the list. I forgot about an automatic draft and instead of taking the items out in the order in wich you made the debit purchases the highest amount is presented first.
I asked about this and was told WE HAVE NO CONTROL OVER HOW THINGS ARE PRESENTED. I guess it must be a miracle that the highest amount goes in first. That's not how they were showing on the computer the day before. The bank was no help. But then again why should they be.... it would cost them money.

BofA Did the same things to my wife and I And My mother Taking her entire ssi more than once We closed the accounts And now pay cash for most every thing opened an account with anouther bank just to pay bills on line and only put the cash in the bank to cover the bills we cant pay with cashI try to always keep the balance at $25 Dollars at All times To avoid alowing the bank to make intrest on my money

my 18 yr old son opened his first bank account with us bank and just informed me that he has $250 in over draft fees I looked at his statement and was disgusted when I saw they charged him over draft fees 2 and 3 days before the transactions where posted I spoke with them and they said the over draft charges where because his available balance was in the negative while his actual balance was posative If you balance a check book in this mannor it would require to check books
or a lot of erasing so apparently double books is now legal if you do it with a computer program

I guess Ill be changing the way I do my books for my bis.

cool my books and the ones I show to everyone else

I'm interested in knowing if there are others concerned about a new fee that banks are trying to impose related to overdraft accounts. Chase may have instituted this fee a while ago,Wamu threatened to impose it and then changed its mind and now Citibank is threatening to impose it. It is a $10 charge every time a transfer is done from the overdraft account(called Checking plus by Citibank) to the checking account which could potentially cost an overdraft account holder $10 per day for the account! I've asked the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency to investigate this matter and I also sent an evaluation request on this site but have received no response. The legal issues I am raising are:
1. Does the bank have to give a TILA(truth in lending act) disclosure in regards to this fee (which it has not done so far) ?
2. Citibank claims its account are subject only to federal law(no usury ceilings) and the laws of the state of Nevada. What is the legal nexus between my account and the state of Nevada?

Hi friends, I am a student from a low income family. I am barely making it and the financial calamity to ruin me. I am thinking about applying for educational or private grants. I did some research and found that most of the grant programs online are scams. Is there anyone out there who has received grant money for anything other than school? If so, please let me know.

Hello,
I'm also a victim of Suntrust Bank's NSF gotcha fees.
I did find some useful links:
http://www.responsiblelending.org/issues/overdraft/

Congress was trying to pass a bill H.R.946:
http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=h110-946

Hopefully if enough people speak up and complain to their local representatives we can eliminate the excessive, unnecessary and abusive NSF bank charges. :D
