Atlanta, GAWhen you purchase a new car, you want to know that everything is in good working order and that there will be no problems, such as brake defects to worry about. Unfortunately, Nissan Infiniti G35 owners have discovered that there are big problems with their vehicle's brakes, causing them to wear out far too quickly. Some owners have filed a lawsuit, alleging that their Infiniti brakes have cost them money—both for replacement parts and because the car's resale value dropped significantly.
The problem with the brakes is allegedly that the brake pads and rotors wear out faster than normal. How fast? One complainant at Consumer Affairs said that the brakes on his new G35 needed to be replaced at 13,000 miles. He says that although Nissan told him this was normal, in his experience this was most certainly not normal.
Nissan brake problems have apparently been known about for years. In 2004, owners of the Infiniti G35 filed a lawsuit against Nissan, alleging that problems with the car's brakes significantly diminished the car's resale value. The lawsuit sought reimbursement for plaintiffs for the cost of fixing the defect.
Nissan amended its warranty for the 2003 and 2004 models to cover brake pad and rotor replacements for the first 3 years or 36,000 miles, whichever came first. However, car owners say that the defects increase the cost of owning the car well beyond that which is covered in the new warranty. Furthermore, they will have a difficult time selling their vehicle because there is not a huge market for cars that require brake pad and rotor replacement every year.
A more recent lawsuit alleges that the 2005 G35s also have the defective brakes. The 2005 models are covered for 48 months or 60,000 miles, however Nissan has allegedly denied warranty claims because the brake problems are related to "normal wear and tear." The other issue is that just because the warranty runs out, does not mean that the brake and rotor problems disappear. Defective parts do not run on the same timeline as warranties—so the car's warranty could expire but the brake problems still continue.
Most car owners would say that they could not imagine replacing their brakes after 13,000 miles. Even 19,000 miles (which is when some people say they've replaced their brakes) is too soon. After all, a person could easily drive 19,000 miles in a year, meaning that he or she would actually be replacing the brakes every year. That's a fairly large cost to take on for a vehicle that is brand new and should not have such unforeseen problems.
Of course, financial issues aside, there is a safety issue with brakes that wear out too quickly. After all, with the brake pads and rotors wearing out, there is a chance that other components of the braking systems could also become worn and damaged, causing the system to completely fail. Obviously, the braking system is a vital component to the safety of a vehicle.
Finally, the defective brakes often give off a significant squealing sound when pressure is applied to the brake pedal—an annoying and frustrating issue to deal with. Not only is the sound annoying, it is also embarrassing. Who wants to drive a car that constantly emits a squealing sound?
So, if you have a Nissan Infiniti G35, what should you do? Well, it would be wise to contact a lawyer to discuss the issue. A lawyer can let you know if you are eligible to join a class action lawsuit regarding the Nissan brake defect.

My 2005 Infiniti M35X has had the same brake problems as those discussed here. I can’t keep replacing all my brake parts every year. I only put about 3,000 miles on my car per year, so for me to need brake work one to three times a year is ridiculous!!! My Infiniti is the worst car I’ve ever owned.

This is my second infiniti. I purchased this 2010 infiniti G37xs sedan with 102k back in November 2017. It hasn’t been a full year and I have already replaced the brake pads and rotors.. and my rear brakes have locked up and over heated while in traffic and on the highway. I’ll get home and spray the rear passenger axle with the water hose and I theres nothing but steam. And it’s killing my tires and gas economy.

I have a 2015 infinity q50 all wheel drive. first the sidewall blew out on the left driver's side and I discovered that there is no spare tire. I called infinity and they said drive it on in-- i said if they wanted the wheel damaged i would but that run flat tires that blow a sidewall cant be driven on. they said have it towed in and they would give me a loaner. No loaner, also had to buy 4 new tires. they wanted to replace a brake sensor when i got it in for that repair, told me rear brakes were worn out. I have 19,000 on the car. took it to may mechanic who confirmed rear brakes were worn. Said the calipers were sticking so I paid $500 each for those and new brake pads. On an all wheel drive the front brakes should wear first and none should be worn out at 19,000 miels

2010 EX35. Rotors resurfaced the first time at 10,000 miles. Since then I have replaced the rotors (don't think replacing them with slotted will remedy the problem, it doesn't) and had a total of 5 break pad replacements. Front, rear and continuous rotor resurfacing. THE CAR ONLY HAS 61,000 miles on it! I'm done. It's getting the fifth set of pads put on as I type. Then it's going to the car lot to be traded. I am an aggressive driver and I've driven this way my entire life and never had issues before. Hence the fact it infuriates me when they try to blame it on my driving style! Bye bye Infiniti.

My FX30d (2013 model 114k km) stopped working brakes while driving! Fortunately, the speed was small and had left only 100 meters to the Nissan dealer, where I went with completely different problems (during the drive power fall down, car did not reacted to the acceleration).

Bought a 2008 G35xS back in 2013 with 48k on it. At 55k the back rear caliper seized ,would not release at times. Had to replace both rear calipers both rotors and new pads. $ 700 10k later the rear caliper on the passenger side seized up. The dealer replaced both rotors and pads under warranty and the one caliper. The other caliper on the driver side was okay. Another $ 350 this was in 1/17. 3/17 the driver side was seizing again excessive brake dust, noise and smell. Back to the dealer. Part in the pad was in between the rotor and caliper. Dealer put in new pad. Picked up the G35xS paid again for pad and labor $ 85 Drove the car home same noise and grinding and smell of rubber and brake dust. Back at dealer again....Add me to this list. Unreal !!!!!!!!!

I own a 2005 FX35. I have been dishing out money for many years for replacement brake pads/rotors. Today my car was service d again for the brake pads/rotors plus the calipers. If there is any class action lawsuit, I am really interested!

Smh my pre owned 2002 neon held up better then my 2005 pre owned g35x. same issue with breaks!! Smh thought i was getting luxury with speed, but what i been finding out is that i got a luxury junk yard on wheels!! I to am embarrassed and ashamed of Infiniti and now i know it's not just me, and after a while, i also have my reasons for not trusting the dealership i was taking my car to for maintenance as well!! As much as i love the way they look and how fast they go, I don't believe I'll get another one, time to move on!!!

Add me to the list. Purchased the 2014 Infiniti Q 50 brand-new had 9000 miles on it when we had to get the all the rotors turned (dealership recommendation). Ever rotor was warped making the car shake like crazy when applying the brakes. Told the service guy the calipers had to be sticking and he said that was normal wear and that I didn't know what I was talking about. Pads still had over 3/4 life left... and now at 30,000 miles the shaking is back,although we have had problems since the beginning I've been a mechanic for 20 years and for someone to try and tell me that this is normal wear and tear is such a bunch of bull s''t. On our 02 Camry we had to change the brake pads and rotors every 3 to 4 years (only changed rotors because that's what was recommended)not because they were bad. It baffles me that this has been an issue for this long and they haven't fixed it even in the newer model cars. I'm worried that even replacing everything,that the problems we are having will just keep coming back for the life of the car. If anyone has any advice or can push me in the right Direction please reply.

And the squealing sound... OMG!!! After a couple months after changing the brakes and rotors, it just never goes away!! And sometimes I can even smell the brakes are hot when I get out of the car. It doesn't feel like a caliper is locked up. It brakes nice and straight. I'm not sure what to do.

Add me to this list I have 2010 m35s and every year I have to resurface the rotors and it's beginning to be ridiculous. The defective rotors are a hit to the consumers who have to come out of pocket for the poorly designed braking system. I am truly disappointed to own this car and I always make sure to tell everyone how Infiniti calls the car luxury but has inferior parts that even a general sedan such as a Camry is better equipped than an Infiniti. I see these posts and feel ashamed to be an owner.

2004 G35 bought used have had for five yrs. I have had to change the rear passenger caliper due to it seizing, rear brake pads have been changed twice and need changing again at this moment. Also the front pads have been changed 3 times. nissan/infiniti has the nerve to charge a ridiculous price for OEM brake pads which don't last worth a damn. Just to compare the brake pads on my Lexus frnt/back cost half as much as a rear set of nissan/infiniti garbage pads. With the amt of squeaks and rattles in this car nissan/infiniti should be ashamed to call this a luxury car. I also own a 09 Rx 350 2nd owner and let me tell you the difference in quality is night and day. Car just feels more solid no squeaks and rattles like my G.

Bought the 2008 G35x and absolutely hate the brakes issues. Within a year of buying the car I had brake issues. Had to bring it in to get the brakes check and the dealer said everything looks fine but the brakes are low. Got them replaced. Again, still had brake issues a few months later and had them checked out. Again, brakes were replaced. The brakes just never seemed right until a few years later when it seems they had to replace something relating to brake issues for G35s. Brakes worked fine for longer after that. Then went in for a huge maintenance (almost $2K), changed brakes and all. Months later brakes seemed to be squeaking a little. Within 2 weeks it was like iron on iron. Had it checked out and they said somehow the brake pad got stuck on the rotor for the rear brake on one side but the remaining brakes look brand new. Spent another grand to fix that. Now here I am months later, and when I apply the brakes my car feels like it pulsates before coming to a stop (warped rotors?). So tired of this car. No way am I buying another Infiniti. My 1996 camry (which this car replaced) had brake issues once and that's because the brakes were never changed for years. Feels like with the G35 I have to do something with the brakes ever year.

I have a 2004 G35 infiniti. I had to get my brakes replaced which I thought was normal for a used car. I also had to get the rotors or caliper done on one tire as well.... After I checked into some paperwork in my car, I saw that the previous owner already had them replaced... Something does not seem right.....

I replaced rotors and pads on my 2006 G35X a year ago ... Since then I had to replace rear pads only to find that later my front rotors hand many gooves. I have driven with with a bad squeak coming from the rear for 3 months. On top of that a rock G chair sound coming from the rear when brakes are applied. (Loud and Embarrassing)... I got tired of the horrible squeak so I went and had all rotors and pads done and new rear calipers 3 weeks ago. This solved the problem for one week !!!! The rocking chair and squeak is back in full effect ! I am so disappointed .

I have a 2009 G37X Coupe, going to dealer again about brakes tomorrow, only have 36,000 miles on car and this will be 3rd set of brakes!!! I am not paying for this, I was told the car is getting old and this should be expected!!! Really.

Add me to the list, I have an 05 fx35 and I have tried many different pads, new rotors, also apparently the caliper guide bolts have a rubber ring on them that swells up and prevents the caliper from sliding properly if you don't use the right grease. I called many Nissan/Infiniti dealers to ask what grease it calls for and they all told me synthetic caliper grease from any parts store would be fine..hehehe WRONG! I now have 5 different types of caliper grease, synthetic, moly, blah blah blah...finally tried 100% silicone grease (spark plug boot grease)and it works...needless to say but I have 0% confidence in dealership service departments due to their complete stupidity. Last but not least, I really wish it was possible to b*tch smack people through the phone.

Add me to the group, I owned a 2007 G35 which had this issue (squawking and grinding brakes) which I upgraded a few years ago to the G37 with same issue. Only now am I online looking to see if this problem is common to this line of vehicles. I like others wish I had seen this when I owned the G35, but I contend that the issue is present in G37 as well.

I wish I would have seen this a couple of months ago..I brought a beautiful used 2004 G35 with only 35,000 mls..little did I know a few months after purchase my back caliber and brake would lock up causing damage to my rotor..anyway had it replaced thinking nothing of it until I'm driving it today and now the other side stated displaying the same symptoms..I rushed it in and the pads are already gone..another caliber to be replaced..

My 2006 G35x needed brakes at least once a year driving 12000 mile/year. I replaced the rotors with slotted rotors and it solved my problem. It's been 2 1/2 years without replacement and it still passes state inspection. The rotors cost about $300/pair, but well worth it

Just getting ready to turn in my 2011 G37 and came across this article. My breaks have ALWAYS squealed about a month after taking ownership. The dealership service center just claimed that it was just something that Infinitis do.
Now I know one more reason why not to get another Infiniti, thanks.

I have 2006 FX35 FWD. Attempted to replace rotors and pad on rear brakes to find that some type of lock tight had been placed on the bolt by Infiniti so that you had no choice except to bring it to a dealer for service. The bolt broke holding the caliper bracket.
I was too far along in the process so I asked the dealership to oder the part. They wanted $437.00 plus shipping.
looked around al day at junk yards and finally went to Autozone and laid the part on the counter. The gentleman looked at me and said not in stock. But we can have it here tomorrow. $39.00.plus shipping 10.00…..
Disappointed to say the least in infiniti.. I have owned at least 5 of them.

2007 M35 MX w/93,000 miles
18,000 miles ago had premium ceramic pads and all four wheels brake overhaul.
developed right rear overheat that warped rotors and replaced both rear rotors , pads and calipers.
only to drive five miles and overheated new parts.
some kind of other problem.

My 2007 M35X rear brake calipers seized-up at 127K miles. Dealer says this is not a recall but I have had the over-heating brakes, excessive dust and burning smell for many years.

2007 g35 S. Had brake pads and fluid changed last year. Now the right rear brakes are making a grinding sound at lower speeds and the noise in increases until I come to a stop. That rim has excessive amounts of brake dust on it. Maybe the caliper if failing?
