American Home Shield

In June 2011, a lawsuit was filed against American Home Shield by customers who alleged contractors were paid a bonus for improperly denying claims. The lawsuit, which seeks class action status, was filed by Bridgette and William Gaudet, and alleges American Home Shield denied claims regarding appliances on the grounds of "lack of maintenance," or "pre-existing condition" despite not carrying out an inspection of the appliances when the policy was issued.

American Home Shield Settlement

In 2010, American Home Shield settled a class action lawsuit filed on behalf of US citizens who purchased or were issued a Home Service Contract by American Home Shield or its affiliates between July 24, 2001 and October 19, 2009. According to the "Notice of Class Action and Settlement," (in the lawsuit Faught v. American Home Shield Corporation), the lawsuit alleged American Home Shield "engaged in a pattern and practice of failing to fulfill its contractual obligations to its customers." This allegedly included failing to provide repair and replacement services even when customers were entitled to those services, and improperly denying claims during the first year of home service contracts.

American Home Shield denied any liability or wrongdoing in the lawsuit. As part of the settlement, American Home Shield agreed to set up a review desk to consider submissions from class members who had their claim denied during the class period.

Bad Faith Insurance

Bad faith insurance occurs when an insurance company improperly denies policyholder claims or delays processing those claims. Some bad faith insurance practices include failing to pay out a claim in a timely manner, requiring policyholders to fill out paperwork repeatedly, failing to conduct a proper investigation into a claim or using unreasonable excuses for not paying out a claim.

American Home Shield Kickback Lawsuit Settlement

In the summer of 2011, American Home Shield Corporation reportedly settled a class-action lawsuit that alleged the company paid fees to realty brokers and agents for promotion of the company's home warranty policies. According to reports, the lawsuit included people who purchased warranty coverage from American Home Shield Corp between May 2008 and March 2011, potentially as many as 500,000 consumers.

The lawsuit alleged that American Home Shield paid kickbacks to realty brokerage agencies and agents in violation of the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act, which prohibits any payment for referrals of settlement services. American Home Shield denied any wrongdoing. According to some reports, home warranty policies typically cost between $400 and $500 dollars. Realty brokers and agents generally receive fees of between $60 and $90.

Similar lawsuits against other home warranty companies are reportedly pending. Home warranty companies and realty associations say the warranties are not settlement services and are therefore not in violation of the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act.

Home insurance to protect one's investment from fire, flood and other forms of catastrophe is a given regardless if a home is new, or used. However, new homes usually feature an enhanced level of protection for the consumer, separate from their home insurance policy--a home warranty that the home is built properly according to updated codes. Some contractors self-insure, while others rely on third-party providers. Sadly, having a home warranty—regardless of the provider or the builder—does not always carry the peace of mind one would ordinarily hope for or expect. READ MORE

AHS is a nightmare and misleading homeowners 100%. I had a policy with AHS in my previous home as a backup in case anything happened. We just bought a larger home and decided to keep a home warranty in place, just in case. Our home we just bought was built in 1983, so we increased our coverage to the platinum plan - just in case. Our dishwasher started leaking a few days before Christmas, normal wear and tear - it’s 16 years old. We submitted the claim and waited. The company that was assigned to our repair was ABSOLUTELY RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL in every way possible. We were given an arrival window of 12-4pm. He texted us after 3 and wanted to know if we were home and we had 10 min to respond. We confirmed we were home and asked what his eta was. He refused to respond. We asked again and mentioned the arrival window to which he said was incorrect and refused again to give us an eta. After he arrived, he was here for maybe 3 min. He said the dishwasher door was worn out and that’s why it was leaking. Our platinum plan covered all parts of the dishwasher so we wished him a Merry Christmas and asked him to proceed with the claim. A few days after Christmas AHS sent us an email stating that it wasn’t covered and our repair cost would be $964. On a 16 year old dishwasher. I called, discussed my coverage verbatim and announced we were cancelling our policy. AHS immediately began to say they would cover it, they misunderstood, blah blah. We cancelled during that call. They are crooks. Not only did they try to NOT COVER WHAT WAS CLEARLY COVERED, they tried to upcharge me for a bogus repair and make a profit off of me. Never, ever rely on this company!

I called American Home Sheild on 11/02/23 to fix my fridge. They sent out a repair person with Accord Appliance. It is now 12/19/23 and after many attempts to fix it and 18 calls with AHS, they denied my claim. AHS contract is worthless. When I wanted to cancel they said to wait for a 2nd opinion. I am tired of their promises. They need the government to put this company out of business. AHS has over 26,000 complaints but still On November 2nd, 2023, I contacted American Home Shield to repair my refrigerator. They assigned Accord Appliance to handle the repairs. Despite many attempts to fix the appliance and 18 calls with AHS, my claim was denied on December 19th, 2023. I found their contract to be useless. When I wanted to cancel, they advised me to wait for a second opinion, but I grew tired of their unfulfilled promises. I strongly believe the government should shut down this company, as they have over 26,000 complaints, yet they are still in business.

I am really beginning to wonder if this company (AHS) is some sort of scam. We have been without Air Conditioning since June 2023, it is now October 2023. True Story. I filed our claim immediately after the unit went out-it took 6 weeks for the initial claim to be resolved, only to have the unit go out again 3 days later. Here we are once again in limbo waiting for a part from American Home Shield to be received by our contractor. We had to endure extreme temperatures in our home this summer. There is a disabled person in our home who really struggled this summer without AC. Here it is now coming up on colder temperatures, if our unit is not fixed-we will not have any heat. When you call customer service to get an idea on what the status is with your claim, the representatives seem to be in the dark just as much as I am. I was so upset for so many weeks over this. Now, I just don't even know anymore. I feel so defeated.

I had 2 policies with them- one for our house, one for a rental. We had some plumbing problems not weather-related, and when I contacted them, they told me a plumbing company would contact me. After 3 days, I called the plumber and was told they do not service my area. Called AHS, and they said they would find another- they just kept putting me back with the same plumber- and I told them they would not service my area! So I called AHS to cancel both policies. They assured me both were cancelled. And I figured they were. Nope! Come to find out, they were still taking money out of my bank account. I've called them THREE times to cancel my policy, and each time, I talk to someone who can hardly speak English. They assure my both policies have been cancelled. Nope! I finally had to go to the bank, pay $30, and have a stop payment put on that transfer. The other day, I get a letter in the mail stating I'm past due! So now I've written a cease and desist letter to them asking them for the money they owe me from taking it out of my account, and a hard copy letter stating that BOTH accounts have been closed. If they don't play nice, I'll be looking for legal counsel to get this matter settled.

COMPLETE CARE HOME WARRANTY

I wish I could have given them a minus . Do Not trust them people them took my money for 3 policies I sold a house with one and decided to cancel the other two due to the horrible service from the one I let remain with the house I sold. I demanded that they cancel the remaining two and refund my money the response was they would cancel but not return nearly 1,000 owed back to me. In my opinion you should run. goggle them and see the reviews.

Filed a complaint with CA Insurance Commissioner for fraudulent application and resolution to the AHS policy issued. Been over 6 months with no refrigerator! AHS blames vendor for not submitting diagnosis report but will not allow vendor to give us a copy nor see a copy of the diagnosis report. Then AHS blames another AHS department for losing the report. The blame game and blatant fraud never ends with AHS. I also filed a small claims case and hearing is upcoming shortly.

I have had AHS come out numerous times for my A/C. They refuses to fix my A/C nor replace the unit. They are trying to say the unit was intentionally damaged. I purchased this house like this. I even showed them the pictures that was taken during the inspection to show proof that I did not intentionally damage anything. They still refused to help. I will never use them again nor refer them to anyone.

My hot water heater started leaking. It is over 16 years old and 75 gallons so it requires 2-3 people to reinstall. AHS kept sending contractors that weren’t capable of doing this big of a job. All of them said it needed to be replaced. It wasted a full weeks time. Meanwhile the leak is getting bigger and we are only using cold water in the house. I called several times. One customer service agent said my claim is in finance and a new one will be installed. Another now says they need another contractor to do a video diagnosis. Just mind blowing how incompetent they are without any regard to the claims process. It’s now taking the last contractor 3 days to submit his information when my contractors visited and gave me a quote within an hour….more delays!

I kept truing to use my own contractors as they can meet my timeline but AHS won’t let me exercise my right since they say they have one. No one there will give me the number to contact finance or their managers or anyone in the legal department.

very bad experience ,on Aug. 13 2022 I requested a washer repair.
the contractor was assigned , he showed up after 4days,then he claimed that repair would require parts and 2 men job. he left and another contractor was assigned ,after 3 days he came to diagnose the washer again and he informed us that would need parts to be ordered. I didn't hear from him ,so I called after 3 days and asked him the status , he told me that he would call me back with status of the order. once again I didn't hear from him ,so I called again ,I was told that technician had gone to the emergency and he had no replacement for him. I called AHS I was told that a new company will take over , and should expect a phone call or email for the new assignment . I didn't receive any confirmation ,so I called back and I got the same scenario , I requested a manager to call me , . again no confirmation , I called today on Aug. 30 I got the same scenario. I called again and requested to someone in charge finally Kevin from the escalation department, talked to me telling me the same scenario
I am so frustrated so far 18 days without washer and expecting 2 more weeks for repair . this is AHS experience

On 7/09/2022, I discovered my central AC system was not operating. I have a Lennox CBX32MV-060-230-6-06 system with a communicating thermostat indicating a blower motor failure in the air handler. I called American Home Shield (AHS) and was assigned a case number 132043768. An AHS authorized contractor was called (Element Air & Refrigeration, LLC 386-986-9931) was called and visited my home. They were able to diagnose the problem as requiring a new blower motor and said they would submit an estimate to AHS. A few days elapse with no word from AHS and I log into their website and find they have closed out the request for repair without the work being completed nor notifying me as to why. I recontact AHS and they told me they would assign another contractor, however, no one was ever reassigned according to their website. Meanwhile, our home is reaching 88 degrees and I am 70 years old, in frail health. By now, it is 7/12/2022, and I recontact AHS (they never contact me), to find out the status of this repair and am told they have been unsuccessful in finding one of their authorized contractors to perform my repair. I ask permission to use my normal HVAC contractor for this repair as they are available. I am told they will issue an authorization for "Independent Contractor Reimbursement Form." I forward the guidelines to my contractor requiring them to contact AHS prior to work and for me to pay out of my pocket. The work is completed on 7/14/2022 and I paid them $2163 for the repair. The contractor later informed me they were unable to reach AHS until 8/1/2022 and AHS is using this as an excuse to NOT reimburse me. They never informed me; they merely refuse to pay. I find this stressful. I contacted ELEMENT and they (Leann) told me AHS balked at their price (motor is very expensive). I feel AHS makes it difficult for outside contractors to deal with their set of guidelines when speed is a necessity. Loopholes or not, I request they reimburse my $2163 asap.

AHS pays $10.00 per lb for freon, but freon costs $75.00 per lb. How is this fair? They have adjusted my price every year but do not adjust the price the will pay for things like freon that also go up every year. I have had this AC unit for 22 years and have never asked them for a dime for this unit, but the time I need them I have to pay out of pocket over 450.00, plus the 75.00 service fee.

Last month, my 22 year old water heater finally went out and they failed to replace this stating that the failure was not due to normal wear and tear. How old does something have to be before they will replace it?

I requested service on my AC. The AC Unit is old and the Contractor they sent out said I just need a new fan. No big deal. AHS was supposed to send a new fan to the Contractor and they will put it in. An easy fix right? WRONG! It has been two weeks and I am still waiting on the part. One minute they say they ordered the part and it can't be expedited. The next they are still trying to find the part. The company is a scam. They refuse to put in a new unit and just would rather give me the run around. They offered me $200 to get a temporary AC unit until they can "fix it" or they MAY reimburse me if I have someone else to fix it. Why would I pay someone else when I pay AHS monthly and the $75 to have someone come out. All I want is my AC fixed. It has been record temperatures and these people don't care about their customers.

I am filing a lawsuit against AHS, its intermediary company in Palm Beach and also its talking head, Matt Blashaw, and against local contractor(s) for fraud, theft, Bank fraud, and other causes of action. AHS has a pattern and practice of collecting the $100 fee without anyone ever coming to the residence to determine the problem associated with the legitimate claim. As well I will include a RICO Cause of ation against AHS and its subsidiaries and Matt Blashaw for maintaining a criminal enterprise. AHS has no customoer service department and it is impossible to contact AHS, or its intermediaries. Since the theft of money/bank fraud involves Interstate Commerce this practice comes under the Jurisdiction of the U.S. Attorney and FBI to whom/which I have filed criminal complaints against AHS. AHS nor its subsidiaries will supply the name(s) of the Contractor(s) who failed to show up although the $100 Fee was deducted from my Bank account without my knowledge or approval. As well I plan a huge publicity campaign to let the American Public know that AHS is a fraud and that these practices are knowingly and willingly implemented in defiance of all the Federal, State, and Local Statutes prohibiting such criminal acts. I will be asking the court for punitive damages against all parties, including prosecution for theft, Bank Fraud, and other crimes which American Home Shield and its subsidiaries and contractors regularly commit. I will also be asking the State Attorney General's office to seek revocation of all contractors' licenses for those who have and do participate in these criminal acts. THE BEST WAY TO HIT THESE CRIMINALS IS ALSO IN AN ADVERTISING CAMPAIGN ON TV and the internet to wake the American Public up.

AHS is awfull. My swamp cooler went out pump and motor died. I called ahs had Contractor come out and redeemed needed to be replaced, he took several photos went back to his company and co worker said ,"just needed cleaning at 600 $" ahs denied got a second contractor "swamp cooler needs to be replaced" spoke with 17 different customer services reps and got 17 different LIES from 1. In auth dept 2. In process 3. Being del to first contractor for install 4. Package damaged in del so returned 5. Trying to find another unit. 6. Receiving a Front Door letter saying that due to lack of maintenance unit is not covered. As I have told ahs one hand does not know what the other hand us doing. I think the last request from the retention dept raises a RED FLAG. She inadvertently pushed a wrong key on her computer to cancell my contract and the following day she called and said she needed my bank card to reinstate the acct. Very fishy indeed. I told her I would NOT give it to her as she should have that available to her if ahs needed her to know. Maybe other customers have given that info out and bank acts have been compromised .

My hot water heater went out on 1/20/22 in the evening so first thing on 1/21/22 I called American Home Shield. They sent out a contractor and the contractor was so rude would not even talk to me or our property manager here in my community. He actually scarred me with his actions. He said I had to have a special order water heater that would require new piping at the tune of 1,180.00 out of my pocket and I was out of code. I bought my home in 2018 and we passed all the inspections if my water heater was not up to code I would not have been able to purchase my home until it was. i called AHS as soon as that man left to let them know he was rude disrespectful and scary. Also let them know he is insisting on ordering a special water heater rather than replace what is already there a normal 40 gal water heater. So AHS agreed to send a second contractor & that one was honest and nice and said all I needed was to replace what I already had no special water heater needed. So thought all was good until ASH said they would only approve the first Contractor the one that scarred me and I would have to pay out of pocket $1,180.00 on top of the $125.00 I had to pay in advance just to get someone out to my home. I am in shock it is now going on 3 weeks no hot water heater. Why in the world would they insist on sending out the 1st contractor that clearly is taking advantage of me and that scares me. I am a widowed woman who lives alone. I purchased this policy for peace of mind and all I have gotten is sick to my stomach with worry and anguish. AHS will not even respond to my questions and refuses to let me see the estimates. My neighbor just had her water heater replaced and the whole job was 1200 dollars with a regular plumber. when I call AHS I get put on hold for over 30 minutes & then get s service rep from overseas and all i get is the run around again. I feel abused disregarded as a person and cannot believe this is allowed to happen to consumers. This Company is untrustworthy and does not care about is clients safety or health. I believe a water heater is something of great importance. I have had to go to a hotel just to take a shower, boil water to wash dishes and I believe this is a heath issue at this point. I have paid my premiums faithfully and on time for the last almost 4 years and to be treated as though I am some sort of unworthy human being and being played with and abused by AHS is criminal. I am beside myself and I do not know what else to do. I have been in tears pretty much everyday trying to get the honest help I deserve and paid for. I hope AHS is put out of business by our government for the abusive treatment of their clients. If someone can help me out there please let me know. Thank you,

We place two claims: one for the refrigerator and one for an entire room electrical outlets not working. This is a home seller purchased warranty. The tech said that our cooling compartment of our refrigerator freezing our food is normal. Complaint to BBB resulted in AHS agreeing to replace or cash the fridge. We chose cash and are awaiting the check.

As to the electrical, after three tech visits and tearing out the wall to provide access to the wiring, AHS is saying that the tech reported pest damage "underneath" the home. The tech never went underneath the home. We suspect that the tech actually reported it "may" have resulted from pests and AHS is stating that means it's not "normal wear and tear" and is denying the claim even after complaining to the BBB. AHS refuses to supply the Tech's report and says we need to get the report from B&B Allstar Electric who refuses to take our calls.

Your clients should know AHS will not replace items that clearly need replacing. I had 2 contractors tell me my AC unit absolutely needed replacing due to a major burn-out of the compressor, the age of the unit and the fact that it is R22 refrigerant.
They also only pay for $10 per pound of refrigerant. The actual cost of the refrigerant is $115 per pound, that means that the home owner pays 90% of the cost. In my case that was $1,300 for a compressor change only.

ahs refused to fix my outside condenser that went bad because i had another heat person friend tell me it was the capacitor an then the condenser failed. AHS says that was not covered because he was not their contractor thus it was deemed bad installation even though he did not do anything exsept confirm bad condenser. Now i have a heater issue with water leaking. They sent out three contractors-two said it was the first contractors falt for breaking the uint worse then it was an tehy recommeded a Lennox dealer fix it which AHS has refused to call out an instead are sending the guy back out who broke it to look at an take pics of my unit. Complete runaround and its getting colder . Its been out of service since NOV. 25th.

10 days ago the evaporator tray with our AC system (in attic) started leaking due to plugged drainage line and emergency switch which failed. Called AHS that day and was promised a service tech from Rivers Reliable HVAC would arrive Tuesday morning. Tech did not show up that day or any of the next 6 business days. Variety of BS excuses. For last 3 days, they won’t even pick up my calls. AHS has been worse than worthless, following vague guidelines that are clearly contractor-friendly not customer-friendly. Promises of finding a different contractor failed to materialize. Promises of making contractor responsible for calling me did nothing - I had to contact the contractor myself. Owner’s first name is Mo. If you live in coastal South Carolina, avoid AHS and Rivers Reliable HVAC. Oct. 13, 2021

I have had numerous issues with American Home Shield. I am currently having an issue with A/C repair. My unit has been down a number of times. This time I called and put in a claim. They sent me to Seabreeze Air services and the number they sent to call does not accept calls. I called after 2 days of not being contacted or being able to contact the contractor. The AHS customer service person told me they would send an email to the contractor. So I am told that having no A/C in 100 plus weather is not an emergency and I get to wait another 48 hours to see if they respond.

Absolute Scam company. We have had the same issues as everyone that is listed here. 4+ weeks with absolutely no repair of our AC unit and it's been over 90 degrees out during that span. And when you call into the company they literally tell you that they can't call you back because "they are working from home" or that "there is no one you can talk to above a supervisor". Count us in for the next big class action suit.

Our washer machine stopped working on 7/25/21 and American home shield sends a GE contractor to repair the broken part. after waiting for a week tor the part to arrive the part was installed but the issue was not resolved. The service man was sent back again and said it a different part that has now malfunctioned and the part cannot be found due to the age of the washer. The diagnostic report is sent to AHS and instead replacing our washer with a new one AHS decides to send another contractor to see if they can fix the washing machine considering mentioning multiple times to AHS and the service repair person that he user for the washing machine is an adult bed bound disable MS patient that her aid nurses constantly require use for this washer. Days go by and no calls from new contractor. Its been over a month now 8/7/21 and the washer remains unrepaired. We have tried numerous times to speak to AHS managers but and asked if we buy our own washer would they repay us back and their answer is no this issue has to go through several escalation steps in order for approval and can take a long time. This is not the first case of complaints I have with this company and there have been several incidents similar to this. Unfortunately due to my income limitations and lack of other available home warranties, most which have similar customer issues, I have no choice but to deal with AHS as my home warranty.
I personally feel this is customer abuse and considering the number of complaints filed on BBB, I pray consumer protection Law takes legal action against AHS and brings justice to so many people suffering from business practices of this company.

Repairs completed on A/C 04/11/21- coil unit replaced

Called for service 06/02/21 - coil unit totally covered in ice- no cold air circulating
The repairman arrived a few days later, showed him the ice and asked why the ice was forming
his immediate comment was after inspecting the coil that the coil looked smaller than original
unit being replaced. After a cursory review he concluded the problem was a dirty filter but he did
a minor leak with Freon and he replaced the valve. He then melted the ice on the coil unit and
A/C. The unit appeared to be working.
Called for service 06/16/21 - coil unit totally covered in ice- no cold air circulating
Temperatures in Arizona were now soaring in the 115’s making the home inhabitable
After a considerable time after ordering service was ordered the
repairman returned and added Feon. In the mean time the ice had melted.
Again the unit was working.

This cycle continue today with no resolution and many hours talking with American Home Shield Representatives who are anything but helpful and the Contractor who are also held hostage by contrary policies and procedures that are in the very lease unethical of not fraudulent

On 12/25/2019, one of two toilets stopped flushing. Within next 4 hours, 2nd toilet was no longer flushing properly. Spent two hours on multiples call to American Home Shield who REQUIRED that I make claim payment BEFORE they would even contact a vendor about this claim. Made payment on 12/25/19 (Christmas Day) and was then told a vendor would contact me shortly. Did not receive any call from vendor, American Home Shield or anyone! I subsequently had to BORROW find and borrow an industrial plunger from a neighbor that I didn't even know and spend another two hours making toilet flushable. I spoke to a supervisor that night and was told my account would be credited for payment since no vendor was dispatched. I have contacted AHS THREE times since then and still my payment has not been refunded. Contacting the Louisiana Attorney General, Better Business Bureau and small claims court on Monday, Feb. 24, 2020. I will spend money to make sure I reach as many people about the fraudulent dealings of this company!!

We contacted American Home Shield in August about our Whirlpool Washer not working. On Aug 13, 2019 they withdrew $100.00 from our account for the deductible of the repair. We troubleshooted the problem and talked to a tech from out of town. It took us about two weeks for every part to try to fix our washer. We waited for 4 weeks for one part to come in. No technicians will come to our town to work on our washer. We finally gave up because we never heard from American Home Shield about what to do with our problem. We finally after several months of no accomplishment from American Home Shield purchased a washer. The amount of the parts we purchased was $984.89. The new washer cost us $ 1,008.00. No reimbursement from American Home Shield.

Is charging us for items that are supposed to be covered and refused to allow us access to estimates and diagnosis information provided to them by the contractors. Ballooning prices on the lists. We finally had to go our abd buy a new heater.

My 2 yr old Goodman 5 ton AC heatpump failed. The problem was the compressor shorted out. They sent the compressor to their repair company. The repair company said we would be charged $900
for 18 lbs of refrigerent that cost them about 120.00 for a 25 lb bottle. We refused to let them install the unit !!!!
AHS says they have no control over their contractors???????

WHAT GOOD IS THEIR WARRANTY?

I called American home shield about my AC unit not working properly. AHS charges $100 for the service charge, $700 for freon and 2 days later the AC unit stop working again.
Called AHS again different company different Diagnostic, the unit was too small which I know not to be true. It was professionally installed and measured the unit by the home sq feet. They did not fix the problem 4 months later same problem with the ac unit.
AHS did not fix the AC unit after 3yrs of countless $100 service fees. I called a local AC unit repair company, the tech was amazing. He said the unit ducts had cracks in them so the unit had to work extra hard to cool the house making the unit overheat.
AHS dont want to pay the cost to fix the duct work.

This company nothing but scam. If you own high end appliance don't come close to this company. My Kenmore Elite refrigerator not working back in August 15, 2019 . After 2 months and it's still not fix . They keep used excuse that the part is backorder and I have to wait .
American Home Shield contract with cheap parts distribution and never have high end appliance parts in their stock.

I have called American Home Shield for two issues so far. There was a leak coming from my ceiling. Took several days for the AC guy to show up. He said it was condensation and just put insulation under the handle. He never checked the drains or the air handler. I called the company who installed the AC. They found a clog, cleared it. No thanks to HomeShield. Now my refrigerator is not cooling. My refrigerator is at 60° and the freezer is at -11° trying to the other side. I submitted my claim Sunday. The appliance company said they couldnt come out until Thursday afternoon. A guy showed up Thursday morning and I was on my way to take my husband who is a stroke patient to the doctor. I told Home Shield the company I wouldn't be there in the AM. I told them I had the confirmation for the PM. HomeShield said it was on me because I sent them away. They said they wont be back until Tuesday. I have already lost $200 worth of food. Once it's fixed I'm done with them.
How do we sue them for false advertisement and failure to abide by the contract?

Same issue. I bought a home with an AHS policy. My A/C was working when I bought the home, and I also had a full home inspection saying that it worked. 2 months after moving it, the AC stopped working. They sent an A/C contractor to look at it, and the next day they closed my claim citing “Pre-existing condition” They are a total scam. Now I’m escalating. I’ve already spent 2 hours on the phone with them, and that’s just my second call. They should be put out of business. I’d rather pay triple the amount if I know that I’m getting a real warranty. This is absurd.

I have found a disturbing pattern between AHS and the companies they contract to do the work:

1. Problem occurs and customer calls AHS who in turn contacts the company to setup appointment. The responding company is often late to respond or simply doesn't.

2. If the company does response they setup an appointment and rarely keep it. The company loses money when they work with AHS so they try to push the appointment back to take on work that is more profitable.

3. IF they do show up 9/10 the problem contains some element that is not covered by AHS so that the company can recoup some $$$.

I've seen this 3x with my AC and plumbing.

we waited 4 weeks for AC repair in FL. We had to wait 6 months for an oven repair; No repair, no replacement. Our central vac went out. No repair no replacement. They have us on hold for hours hoping we hang up. They read off a script with a lot of "oh im sorry, I understand, etc.". We paid religiously monthly because we thought this was a useful service. My husband is 100% disabled veteran, we are on a budget. It's extortion. These people are out of control.

Sketchy company to say the least! Horrible coverage (that isn’t clear upfront), fees for coming out, terrible customer service, no pro-rated refund... instead, they charge you a fee to cancel!! Full Story: I had my 6 month old A/C blowing hot air and so I called American home shield and paid a $75 fee so they can send someone out. I was ok with the fee and paid right away. Two days later, the a/c company comes out and finds a leak. They fixed it & filled the Freon with 7.5 lbs of freon. American home shield only paid $10 a pound of the $69 a Pound that it cost. So they pretty much just covered the service fee they charged me to send someone out. Since the a/c company was already out there I was forced to pay $442.50 to get it fixed or else lose the $75 service fee they collected upfront. Lose/lose situation. Two weeks later the a/c Company called me back and said I owe them another $190 for the patch because American home shield does not cover that even though they said it was covered when they came out. I’ve never experienced a company calling back to get money after a job is done two weeks later. Ok what to do? I called American home shield to explain my case..... that was no help. Brian, the customer service rep, pretty much said tough luck and wouldn’t look into it further. I opted to cancel and was promised a prorated amount of $258.00 back of the $470 for the year paid in full that was paid during escrow. The $258 check never showed and so I called today and asked where my check was and they said we don’t owe you anything because you cancelled us and, in fact, you owe us a $39.00 cancellation fee. Wait, What? He said that since I canceled my policy before the full term of the policy was over, they’re not giving a refund, I’m out the coverage, AND I get charged a fee. So they keep the money in each scenario and I’m not covered?? And can’t get a refund?? I asked him why did they not let me know any of this upfront and pointed out that I was never told that I had to paid $39.00 to cancel and I was never told I wasn’t going to get a refund for being out half a years worth of coverage now. Just sounds shady, customer service doesn’t have supervisors to escalate cases & can’t get my 6 months of so called homeowners warranty reinstated.... They just sent me from person to person. very shady Business practices.....

It has been almost a month with multiple almost daily calls to American Homeshield and Advantage AC in south Texas and my AC is still out, 6 attempts to try to fix it. Every time I call my call goes to the Philippines and they can never understand my concern/complaints, all they know to answer is I'm so sorry. I'm getting tired of this. I think they're a fraud and produce false advertisements on services they provide. They fail to include that it takes 1-2 weeks to get crappy parts to fix whatever is broken then pay only $10 / pound of freon when it costs from $60-90 / lb to replace. I wish I could sue them for all the physical and mental stress I'm experiencing aside from lost wages waiting for these incompetent people to fix my AC.

My furnace went out. It took two trips and then the repair contractor tried to sell me an option to replace every single HVAC system in the home (2 ACs and 2 furnaces). I declined. The contractor and American Home Shield then told me that the furnace was a total loss and would be replaced and covered by insurance, but there were nearly $2,000 of out of coverage "modifications" I would need to pay for in order to have my furnace replaced. Multiple days to get to this point, all without heat. I wonder if there is a pattern? I wonder if there is an economic benefit (lower rates paid by AMH) to AMH for this pattern?

On/about September 8, 2018, I did an online "chat" with one of AHS personnel. I let her know that I wanted to cancel our service with this company. I knew if I called by phone that the wait would be hours and that they hang up on you purposely. She said surely she could cancel our account (which renewed on the 14th, so there was plenty of time). She even suggested taking our Discover card out of their system so it couldn't be "accidently" charged again that month. What a great idea! So we did this. She also noted that her Supervisor was going to go over to the cancellation department and give them notice on our behalf. She even gave me the supervisor's name. Perfect! Cancellation complete. NOT.
In about 3 weeks we started receiving collection calls for the $81.00 fee and last week I received an invoice for over $160 for 2 months charges unpaid. Well after the 1st phone call for the $81.00 I called AHS back again and the girl on the phone said yes I show your account is cancelled, no worries. HAHA. Then we got that $160+ bill stating WE OWE THEM.

Fortunately for us, I had taken pictures of our "chat" on the computer screen with my cell phone camera to PROVE that we chatted, I requested a cancellation and they just didn't do it.So I recommend to everyone that you do this. Why? Because they will leave you on hold for hours, not help you, say you never said or did things, lie like hell and generally not give you any customer service. TAKE A PICTURE OF YOUR COMPUTER SCREEN WITH A CAMERA OR YOUR CELL PHONE. TAKE SEVERAL OF EVERY GROUPING OF CHATS AS PROOF. Currently we are looking in the Dallas/FW area for an attorney because we feel we are being harassed by them ABSOLUTELY. They must think they are invincible or something because to not even have our credit card in their system and continue to bill us after we have called to cancel and sent written notification as well? It's just blatant disregard for our lives and peace. I KNOW how frustrated y'all are with them because we had many of similar/same issues with AC, oven etc. Their newest SCAM is that $75 service fee? Whether the contractor fixes the item or not (even if they come out and say they cannot fix it) AHS KEEPS THE FEE NOW. They didn't used to do that - but they do now. EVEN IF THE CONTRACTOR CANNOT FIX IT. They are horrible and I truly do not recommend anyone have an account with them unless you or your spouse is an attorney (even then?)... Good luck to us and you!

I have tried everything I know how to try to get American Home Shield to assign an authorized provider to finish the work started, but not completed, by AirNow (also known as AirMax).

This issue began in July 2018 and is still unresolved. Each day the issue is not resolved is another day my wood floors are buckling because of the condensation from ductwork in the crawlspace. The attached documentation will clearly show any reasonable person that I have gone out of my way to resolve this issue according to my Warranty Agreement. Sometimes it feels like AHS and AirNow are in this racquet of doing little to no work and still collect the service fees. Investigating AHS thoroughly (I wish I had done my homework before buying the warranty) I found the company has had 10,200 customer complaints in the past three years!

Summary

AHS assigned AirNow to fix the ductwork issue of condensation. AirNow said only the Main-trunk line needed to be fixed. I took them at their word. A few months later when the wood floor in the guest bedroom began buckling, I investigated common causes of such issues. The number one issue was moisture. Since there were no water issues within the house I decided to have a look under the house. I found several vent-lines with condensation (see photographs included) and pools of water below each line. I contacted AHS to have AirNow return and fix the issue. AirNow returned but they needed to do an assessment and resubmit the information to AHS for approval.

I provided AirNow with my photos taken just a few days earlier. They seemed to appreciate that and didn’t even look under the house. I was told AirNow submitted the paperwork and photos to AHS and was waiting for a reply. Further follow up with AirNow resulted in me contacting AHS since AirNow said they had not heard anything. AHS said AirNow reported no issue with the system and recommended the owner install a dehumidifier. Had they bothered to go under the house on the second visit AirNow would have found, not only a dehumidifier, but an air-mover (blower) as well. After much effort to get a second provider Greenway was assigned. They documented that the first provider (AirNow) had not completed the job and the owner did have a dehumidifier and an air-mover installed.

AHS assigned the work back to AirNow and they refused to return my calls or to return to finish the work. AHS assigned the work to Greenway at least one more time but it kept ending up back with AirNow. Judith, with AHS, finally told me that AirNow simply did not want to do the work. In the meantime, I asked AHS if my wood floors were covered and I was told they were not covered. I understood and didn’t pursue that again. But now that this issue is taking months and it is still not resolved, my floors are almost unsafe to walk across.

I patched several of the duct work that was leaking and most of the pools of water were gong last week however, the insultation around several of the vent lines are saturated and needed to be replaced or rewrapped.

The only reason I continue to spend my own time pursuing this issue is because I believe too many people get worn down by these types of businesses and they just give up. Then the next person who comes along has to deal with the same thing! It is criminal how these companies are taking my money without any apparently accountability for providing the services they claim to offer.

December 2017 American Home Shield sent a plumbing company to my house to unclog my drain line behind my washing machine in the process of doing it the plumbing company technician stated that he collapsed my drain line. After that AHS canceled my policy and left me with 12,000 in damage and stopped responding to anything. Please help me and my family.

Filed against :
American Home Shield
150 Peabody Pl
Memphis TN 38103-3700

Complaint Description:
AC UNIT REPAIR 3X's still no repair and a second opinion for replacement. This company gives you the run around when it comes to taking care of what they claim to cover. I have had four visits, from two separate companies, regarding my A/C unit. Initially, the first added Freon and repaired a condenser in the upstairs air-conditioning handler whiched leaked where the unit is and into my daughter's bedroom. The second time it leaked down into my bedroom after they said it was fixed they said it was a cleaning issue and they "cleaned and fixed the problem" advised me to put aluminum pans underneath the unit to be safe. It leaked again two days later the tech from the same company came out and did a pull and clean on the unit the same night it leaked again. The company was ace heating and cooling. AH&C told me it was repaired a third time it was not it leaked again later that night. So I was told by Rick the manager that deals with AHS at AH&C that AHS was not going to repair it. This before he said he has to look.at what his employees notes has to say. Then on the day of the scheduled appointment no one called or show so I contacted rick he said AHS cancelled the recall. I asked why he said cause the unit was replaced backward and that's a secondary issue and AHS won't cover it it will cost me 1200 dollars to replace everything I contacted AHS and they had told me that AH&C said I needed a new platform. I mentioned to them it sounds like a scam for two years my unit has been working and ever since AH&C comes out its worst and all of a sudden I need a whole new unit or a new platform. On top of all this they are trying to charge me for a third company that never came out on the initial visit for 125.00. I've had leaks into my bedroom my kids bedroom and hallway. So they sent out total aircare to do a second opinion TA noticed that AH&C had not even put the screws back in to hold the unit in place. This has been going on since the end of 5/18 it is now the near end of 8/18. It's my kids room that's requiring Air conditioning. I bet there can be a class action lawsuit against this for all the complaints they are receiving on the BBB

Your Desired Resolution:
Replacement of the unit with the problem in question, repeated flooding repair credit for three months of no repair and release of contract with no penalty.

Still broken since may.

This case will be reviewed by a complaint specialist at the Better Business Bureau, and then forwarded to the business for their response. It is our policy to allow the business 30 working days to respond to your complaint. You will be notified when the business has responded.

I have tbe same issue ive read online now at least a hundred times. I got this horrible policy when i brought this house never used it. Renewed it two months ago. When i talked the liar that sold me on it I told her i was in the auto busn 25 years and know how extended warranty companies are frauds they have all kinds of excuses not to cover repairs. I asked her if my ac goes out how do i know you will nit do like extended auto policies do and worm out and was reassured it would be fixed right or the whole unit would be replaced. Well month abd a half later water cones thru ceiling.called in was told their repair person would call within 48 hrs 5 days later he calls next day three guys in a old chevy pickup with all their tools thrown in back shiw up face and neck tattoos mist unprofessional group ive ever seen. He goes in attic minute later tells his helper to get him this roll of tape looked like gorella tape. Five minutes later he is down trying to get it to turn on. It was working fine when i shut it off because of the leak. The thermostat is not getting power now think one of the small wires was broken when he was up there. I also told him the last month it was getting louder when it ran and took longer to cool. Its a 22 year old system a family friend in Austin that is a co owner in a reputable ac company had already looked at it for us and told us the system needed to be replaced.I have talked to a Lawyer as per his advice i have two other BBB rated ac companies coming in the next two days to inspect it and give me repair or replacement quotes.AHS declined the claim that it was a pre-existing condition.Which reading thru their thousands of complaints is one of their favorite scams. The Texas Att. General is well aware of them and opposed them settling one of their class action lawsuits. When i get my quotes all from repected companies I will take the lowest quote which is ehat a decent compay would do and pay for the repairs which will put me in debt for 5 years or until the lawsuit settles. Im all for a class action. I cant beleve that more state att. Generals arent persuing this fraudulent company if everyone would start raining emails to their state att. Generals turn up the heat. People can use tbe internet and social media to change this get together and start emaili g

Again, another miserable experience with AHS.
Hot water heater in an investment property broke down and of course I filed a claim with AHS immediately. Took over 3 days to get their assigned contractor out to look at it. After going back and forth with the contractor and AHS, the contractor decided to walk away from the job. I was notified by AHS that after 2 weeks, I needed to hire my own plumber to complete the job. After 2 DAYS, the job was completed by my plumber.
Since AHS's plumber walked away, they've offered to pay me about 2/3's of what the job cost me and there is no arguing with them. Just another screw job from AHS after I had to face 4 tenants who went without hot water for over 2 1/2 weeks.
I am contesting their monthly charges to my credit card and cancelling them immediately.....you should all do the same!

Just another version of the claims not honored above:
First 2 service calls - techs serviced the wrong piece of equipment.
2 months and counting and couldn't even get AHS to respond to the service request, much less repair it.
Numerous calls, emails, chats and tweets later, had the $4,500 repair made myself.
Locate an exec on the website, correctly guess his email address and send a short email asking for a response.
His underling calls - offers me $870 for the $4,500 repair.
If there are reputable attorneys out there who will take the case on contingency, will be glad to be lead client.
Please help.

American Home Shield Corporation is a Delaware corporation with principal address at 860 Ridge Lake Blvd. Memphis TN 38120-9434. Its registered agent is CT Corporation System, STE 2021 800 S. Gay ST Knoxville, TN 37929-9710. AHS is not licensed as a contractor in the State of Tennessee. They sent Greenway Home Services Of Nashville to me. The records of the State of TN indicate that Greenway Home Services Of Nashville, LLC is not registered as a contractor, only Greenway Home Services, LLC in Bartlett (Memphis). It is against the law in Tennessee to act in the capacity of a "contractor" in Tennessee when not properly licensed. TCA 62-6-136. My air conditioner went out on June 14, 2017. I called AHS and as of today, September 09, 2017, it has been 12 weeks & 1 day since I notified AHS. The first contractor they sent out told me it was repaired after 3 weeks, though is still wasn't working. I had an outside contractor look at it and he said NOTHING had been done, and he told me exactly what was wrong with it. When AHS sent out their second contractor I told them what was wrong with it and he told me there was no way I could know! That was on July 24, 2017, and the second contractor has not completed the repairs. I have been through the record breaking summer without air and it has been miserable affecting my health. I would advise anyone to not get American Home Shield.

First - Everyone should be aware that you can't file a Class Action Against this horrible American Home Shield. Contract prevents it.
I too am experiencing a big rip off with AHS over HVAC. NO A/C for almost 2 months in Texas. They kept sending out an a/c guy that never fixed the unit. AFTER multiple visits in one week SUDDENLY the unit freezes up and now has leaked refrigerant out and they want me to pay $1200 for coil replacement (over $500 for the refrigerant.) and the rest bogus "code violations". PLUS they are trying to collect another $75 service call fee that multiple reps have said is an error and are going to correct. I am going to report them to the Texas Real Estate Commission and thinking about starting a petition on change.org to petition Texas Real Estate Commission to revoke their Texas License and also to petition at least the Austin Board of Realtors (though preferably all Realtor boards in Texas) to not refer customers to AHS. They act in bad faith and should be stopped.

Posted by

AHS automatic renewal can be cancelled through a phone call, however, the wait time is over 30 minutes and all calls are dropped before reaching the customer service rep. I am very interested in a class action lawsuit against this predatory practice of auto renewal.

I took out a home warranty a few years ago on a home that was going to be rented out. My microwave was not working properly, so I called AHS, the technician met me at the home, lied and said he would take care of this. I called the company and asked them why was my issue not fixed. They said the Technician told them nothing was wrong and I was shocked. It was not a huge issue, but needed fixed. I will never use them again.

On July 10, 2017 my tenants contacted me, saying that the inside of the house was not cooling and remained around 86 degrees. I contacted my home warranty, American Home Shield. A technician came out the next day, flushed the system and added coolant. A LOT of coolant. Within a few days, my compressor had over-heated and the house was hotter. So, I had to wait another day for another technician supplied by AHS. That tech said that the compressor had been over heated because of the actions of the first technician. He drained the freon. The AC still didn't work, so I had to wait a few more days for a third technician supplied by AHS. This tech said that the compressor needed to be replaced.

After that third technician, suddenly, AHS came back and said they wouldn't cover the unit and want to send a forth person out to confirm that it is a commercial unit. So, they can send tech to damage the unit, but not replace it? They sent a forth technician to confirm the third technician, diagnosis. How many technicians and how many weeks do I have to wait? Meanwhile my tenants have spent over two weeks in 100+ temperatures. I call AHS every day. The hold time for a customer service agent at AHS is usually 1-2 hours, every time. No one ever calls back, even when they GUARUNTEE they will call back, they don't. They don't reply to emails. They record your calls, but don't tell you they are. However, if you want to purchase a policy, you can get a representative right away. It may sound like your average horrible customer experience, but after looking online, I couldn't believe the feedback. It seems no one is treated fairly by this company. I need them to cover the damage they caused, which is costing me $7K, but I also need the public to know not to get involved with this company. They will take your money every month, and possibly cost you money with their inept technicians.

I would like to provide any information I can, to anyone interested in investigating this business further.

5 months into home warranty contract, water heater is leaking. I submit a claim online on Saturday, July 15th. I received a call from the plumber on July 16th to let me know that someone is coming out on the following day, July 17th. So far so good. They come out, the guys spends about 10 minutes looking and goes home. I let the whole day pass and I was not given any update. I call the plumbing company who tells me it needs to be replaced and they will submit to AHS. I wait two days. No call or anything. I call the plumbing company again and they say they are waiting on AHS. I do the online chat to reach a representative and they say it needs to be processed. I check in again the next day and the same story. I check in on that friday to finally get an answer that it has been approved, but I owe $735 for some code modifications that are not covered. The frustrating part is most of the supposed “codes” are things already in place (earthquake strap, vent, etc.). I deny and ask for the cash out option. They say it will be 2-3 days before someone will call me to let me know the cash out amount. I was three days and do the online chat again and was told on Tuesday July 25th that someone would call me before the end of the day. The day passes and no call. Now I am on hold waiting for someone to answer and see what is going on.

Side notes: their online chat only pops up as available about 20% of the time so i have to check constantly and no one answers the phone. I waited 90 minutes once with no answer and my current call is at 20 minutes and counting.

They charged me for a service fee for refrigerator company that never came into the house. I called and asked why they sent a company who showed up but never came into the house but drove off. They apologized and told me they would put in another service call and someone would be out in a couple of days and the service calls would be waived. I have been paying for the insurance every month and for nine months. I recently called for service and was told i owed for a service call. They are a rip off, now they won't send someone unless I pay for the service call they waived.

I am just hearing about this lawsuit on AHS. I definitely need to have my money reimbursed. They were the WORST COMPANY I have ever known!!!!! I let every homeowner know stay away from them. My heater went out and they came and installed this little bitty heater, that took the installer several days to put in. They claimed it was the proper size for my home. I was too upset. I called customer service and they were so rude to me. Eventually, I dropped the contract. NEVER AGAIN!!!!!! Do you know they have the audacity to send some mailing out to sign up again!!

RUN - do not walk - RUN away from this company. There is absolutely no customer service - received one vmail a month ago when the company approved a repair. When I called the contractor to do the work, they said it had not been approved. Since the AHS approval vmail on 10/20, AHS has not communicated via phone, email, or postal mail at all. The contractor disagrees with AHS regarding their reversal and refusal to cover the repair and has advised me to call AHS and speak with an account executive. AHS dispatched another contractor last week for a second opinion - I recorded the entire conversation when that contractor was at my house and that contractor agreed with the first that the repair should be covered.

Suddenly a few days ago, no communication from AHS, a 3rd contractor was contacted by AHS to dispatch to my house. I got a call from this 3rd contractor and had no idea why AHS asked them to dispatch after 2 contractors had already come out.

Apparently AHS is trying to find some contractor to agree with their opinion to not cover the repair despite 2 contractors already in agreement the repair is under warranty. Oh, this is only my hot water heater which failed a month ago!!! Impacting 2 adults and 2 children. RUN!!!!!

Home purchased in Nov 2015. AHS contracted to provide warranty major systems. on February 2016 the Thermostat began registering error in communication with Compressor/outside sensors. AHS called and sent out service provider who charged $75 to report to AHS that the system was installed incorrectly and therefore would not be covered. However, as the system was working just fine previously and passed inspection in November- it was clear that the technician was incorrect. Called AHS again asking for a second opinion. Second technician came out and looked at the THermostat and reported to us that he was not qualified to work on this type of system. I called AHS back described the technicians report, described the system specs and asked that they send us a tech qualified to work on our system. They had another service provider call us, I spoke with them on the phone and described the specs. The provider responded that they were not qualified to work on our system and cancelled the scheduled visit. I Called AHS a fourth time and asked for another service providers phone number. I called and was again told that they were not qualified to work on our system. I again called AHS back and requested to call out the original installer of the system to repair the problem. AHS informed me that I could send them my receipt for reimbursement. They refuse to honor warranty, whose directions I clearly followed in my search for repairs. Called and spoke to manager today in lengthy conversation and she had little to no notes on my previous phone calls with them, and no notation from the second opinion provider on the issue. She used her lack of records as a basis to continue to deny my claim.

American Home Shield are liars, cheats and thieves. DO NOT give them your credit. Add information. They will take your money. Do not use this company.

The decline in customer service from AHS has been appalling, and I can easily believe that at least 2 of the contractors who have come to look at my AC unit recently are attempting to work with AHS to NOT repair/replace my system. My situation is exactly like most of the comments here: they send a contractor who comes back with a diagnosis such as mold or another pre-existing condition usually related to "lack of maintenance." The one that I was scheduled with today just never bothered to show up, after guaranteeing me he would come before lunch. My entire day was shot. As others have reported, I've been a long time customer of AHS, hesitating to break my contract because I have gotten good service and great contractors in the past. But 2 of the companies have flatly refused to do any work unless I purchase a brand new system. One of them told me that mold had made the heat strips stick to the handler and I should wait until spring to replace the unit because the heat would still work. (?) Then, the next day my compressor stopped working. I placed my first call in mid-September and now, on October 21, my South Carolina house is still registering 85 degrees. Customer service is non-existent. Even the chat line conversation is dismissive. I asked for an email of someone to speak with, or a supervisor, and was denied. To see a company run like this is quite shocking and indicative at the carelessness that follows when a company becomes too big for its promises and follows only the money. And they get away with it. In good faith I have allowed them to take money from my account each month, and I now I am left with no recourse other that to hire another contractor. But this company who pays no attention to the BBB, could care less about its customers who pay their salaries and bonuses. It's sickening that they are held to no standards, which only begets further scams on innocent customers. If and when there is another class action law suit I definitely want in and have my paperwork ready to go.

October 8, 2016

This is my second compliant I am sending about American Home Shields. To this day the president of the company has not contacted me. On October 5, 2016 I was contacted by AHS rep, she said I understand that you wrote a letter about us so we are offering you cash out option of $401.00. I explained to her I have done a research and to fix evaporation coil the cost range is $1500.00 - 2,5000.00. I then read my contract to her which says -

AIR CONDITIONING INCLUDING DUCT-WORK
1. COVERED: ALL COMPONENTS AND PARS OF THE FOLLOWING air conditiong systems. Ducted central electric split and packing units- Geothermal - wall air-conditioner - Mini-splits. My unit is MINI-SPLITS.

I stated to her since it says all components and parts are covered, why do I have to pay $1081.00 to Fiver star Comfort Systems and your company is only offering me $401.00. She said you are paying for code violation and there are four of them.

The code violations are -
1. Mastic HVAC
2. Float switch HVAC
3. Hangling lit HVC
4. Insulate drain line HVAC

I called the city ordinance of Texas and I was told that there is no code violation to fix evaporation coil it is only on furnace. I called again on October 9, 2016 after 26 minutes waiting time I talked to a rep, and told her there is no code violation in the state to Texas to fix evaporation coil it is only on a furnace. she said it has to get fixed then AHS will sent Five Star comfort Systems to repair my coil.

I found AC repair comapny that can fix all four violations for $300.00 and I called AHS to sent Five Star Comfort Systems to come and fix the evaporation coil. AHS rep said I am sorry but Five Star Comfort systems has said they are not going to fix it unless they do every thing and get paid $1081.00 by me. I said why should I pay for minor violations that any one can view on YouTube and fix. They are very minor my husband can fix it but sine he is too busy we are getting it it fixed and their contract does not say violations has to be done by AHS repair person. As long as I have the violations fixed since it has nothing to do with the repair they should fix it. she said let me get you a manager since you have this issue over a month. she got a resolution specialist and she said "sorry mom there is nothing we can do or you either" you have to get cash option of $401.00 or you have to pay our people $1081.00. I asked her do you represent me the loyal customer that has been paying for service over 6 years or the AC company that is doing fraudulent deceiving practice. she said we represent both.

I told her I called city ordnance and there is no violations to fix evaporation coil and this company is scamming me unnecessarily amount of money and I have AC repair man ready to correct the four violations for $300.00. I told her that this repair company have a two star rating and there are many complaints about them on BBB. They are trying to scam me over a thousand dollars for minor violations that city does not even require. I told her AHS should not use them. She said AHS does not care what is on BBB and they do not pay attention to this site.

I asked for AHS to sent me another repair person and I will pay another deductible of $125.00 she said since seven days has passed since the process has started I am not allowed for second opinion. I then asked to speak with a senior manager that can resolve these issue. She said a manager is not available to talk to me. She has to submit a ticket and "[name]' will contact me after 24 hours, of course to this day no one has contacted me.

Over one month since my AC stopped working, with two children, and Texas’s 100 degree weather and I am still without AC. To date I have paid the AHS over $ 4000.00 and the first time my AC went out, AHS can’t even fix it right. I feel that I have wasted my money and the company has not kept it promises. I received terrible customer service, basically nonexistent. I now feel that the amount of money I paid on this warranty over the past 6 years, I could have kept my money and just paid for repairs as they arise. I am writing to you to please include me in a class action law suit against this money scamming company. I do want to take a legal action against them and join with the masses of people they have ripped off.

Here is the e mail I sent to AHS President and to Better Business Bureau

September 22, 2016

I have been a loyal customer of American Home Shields for six years. My AC stopped working three weeks ago. The first time I waited over 26 minutes to talk to someone. The agent said someone will come out to check the problem within 24 hours. The AC repair man from All Star Comfort Systems said it was something minor and all I had to do was pay the deductible $125.00. I paid, and after 2 days the AC stopped working again. When I called AHS, this time I waited over 30 minutes to talk to an agent. I was told to wait 24 hours for someone to come out. Repair men said it was my Freon and AHS cover $10.00 per pound and their price is $90.00, I needed two pounds and I ended up paying $160.00 dollars. The AC worked for 3 more days and stopped working. I called for the 3rd time. The AC repair man came out two days later and this time he said I believe your evaporation coil and some parts are not working. He will give AHS the details and they will contact me.

I waited two days no one called. On the 3rd day, I called and after 36 minutes waiting the lady said “I am sorry my computer is down” and she promised to call me or my husband back, but no one called back. The 4thday I called and asked to talk to a supervisor. After waiting over 36 minutes I was given 1 800 858 1922, Ext 1075252201, I spoke with RP and I explained the situation, I asked if I can get my AC fixed by someone else, and get reimbursed. She said no they do not allow this type of transaction. She said she will find out what is going on and will call me back as soon as possible before the day is over. I have called her several days and left messages. She never returned my call.

Finally, I called the service number, after 41 minutes on hold, the agent said I have to pay $1020.00 to get it fixed. I asked what portion AHS is covering. She said the only thing AHS covers is for the evaporation coil and I am responsible for $1020.00. I asked what is the cost of the evaporation coil. She took a while to search for the quote, when she returned she said another department is the one that can tell me the cost and she has to start a ticket for this process. She then said since they are behind by 9 days on the price quotes the soonest they will call or e mail me will be after 9 days.

Three weeks from the first time my AC stopped working, with two children, and Texas’s 100 degree weather and I am still without AC. To date I have paid the AHS over $ 3500.00 and the first time my AC went out, AHS can’t even fix it right. I feel that I have wasted my money and the company has not kept it promises. I received terrible customer service, basically nonexistent. I now feel that the amount of money I paid on this warranty over the past 6 years, I could have kept my money and just paid for repairs as they arise. I am writing to you to please help me resolve this issue as soon as possible or help me get a refund of the $ 3,500.00 I have paid to AHS over the past six years.

My a/c has been broke since mid July. They could not get someone out to fix it that was willing to work for them so they gave me approval to use my own contractor, case number, and told me to fax the bill in for reimbursement. They told me a month later the reimbursement was denied and then kept hanging up on me when I tried to talk to anyone.

Two months later it is still broke, have sent two companies out to look at it (that I took vacation time to be home) and still will not get someone to fix it.

I am considering small claims for the initial repair but would be interested in a class action suit if others are having the same problem. It seems they just keep pushing repairs back until your insurance is up or you give up, take care of it yourself, and then they won't reimburse you. Over two months now with refrigerant leaking in my house, literally dozens of calls, hours of time on hold, and nothing has actually been done other than a little refrigerant added just to leak back out.

It's time for a new class action suit against AHS. I know for a fact I'm not the only one who has issues with this company not paying and not holding up their end of the contract. Something needs to put a stop to them and their bad business ethics.

my AC recently quit working. It took over a week for AHS to get someone to look at it. They sent over one contractor and were not pleased with his request so they sent out a second contractor for another opinion. They were also not happy with that request. They sent out a third contractor which is not stated anywhere in the warranty that they can do this. He explained the unit is low on Freon and filled it up free of charge. He said there is most likely a small leak and that's it. The third contractor didn't even inspect the inside coil.

BEWARE of this company! They will frustrate you and make you understand how people go postal. I have used them for 20 years and they used to be great, then they sold out to ServiceMaster and they really went downhill. We stayed hoping it would get better as they adjusted. But it got worse. Their revenue (public info) is over a billion a year, but they only care about profits now. You will wait on hold for over an hour to get help. And now we have been waiting over a week without A/C for someone to fix our system in a major city when it is almost 100 degrees outside. When you finally get through to someone, they tell you they can't transfer you to anyone, you just have to wait your turn. Really, with all that money they can't hire more people to process claims? We finally just called a random A/C company today and they are fixing it NOW and we will pay $1200 for it. The premiums we paid AHS all these years was WASTED money!!!!

They won't replace a coil in my A/C. That's after paying 2 years of their premiums for a total that woudl exceed the cost of the coil.

I just spent an hour on hold to get to a rep to straighten out an error where they refused my claim because they mistook my central A/C coil for my pool heater coil. The rep then put me on hold again and I gave up after an hour waiting for that on-hold.

They need another class action lawsuit

I have a hot water leak in my foundation, i called AHS and they send out a plumber who immediately denied the claim because he said the water better did not run enough, then i said please explain why 15 square foot of tile are burning hot, he said he was unable to but would need to get authorization to bring out leak detection equipment and for that to happen the water would need to run more, i called AHS and complained and then finally they send the plumber back with the detection gear and immediately concluded that there indeed is a leak. They came back one more time and estimated the repair to be 3K, then informed me that they would only cover $500 because thats their estimation of just the repair, they said that all the digging through the floor and and cost associated is not covered, i said ok, then you send me a check for that and cancel my contract, the lady said ok, i received a call to confirm that i indeed wanted to cancel my contract which i confirmed, today i get an email that said that i would only receive $250, i called the person on the email and now she is saying that the $500 is to cover both detection and repair which is a flat out lie and confirmed by the plumbing company who got authorized to do the detection under the coverage. i am so fuming mad that i am willing to spend the money to go to small claims with them for the entire amount, please advise, AHS is basically swindling people.

I have had AHS since 2001. I have paid thousands and thousands of dollars to AHS in 16 years. My claims have hardly been a fraction of the amount I paid. The biggest claims I have had over the entire period is two compressors. Both the time I have been literally robbed by their contractors for the cost of disposing the old compressor and the Freon replacement. I could have disposed the compressors for a fraction of cost of what they charged, they said unless I pay their demand they will not replace the compressor. It was black mail. Same thing with the Freon they wanted to charge me for twice the price per pound and twice the amount of the needed Freon. Of course AHS reps said tough luck. We can't do anything about it.

Now suddenly I get a letter in the mail, that they cannot offer "me" the 3 by 3 combo plan. They will offer me "plus" plan. No reason of cost difference in the letter.

I called today to find out. The representative told me " their legal team reviewed my claims and decided that because of claims in last two years only (which included one compressor and plumber call) we can't offer you that policy. She said it is "almost" the same coverage but instead of paying $543.96 per year you will pay $1199.04 per year, a hefty increase of 120.42%.
She said you have had the coverage only for four years, I provided her contract numbers all the way back to 2001. She said I have notated the account that you are not happy.

AHS is the biggest consumer fraud company. They want your money but do not want to pay claims. They give nominal amount to the contractors. Therefore contractors extract money from you for fake charges and rob the consumers. Where are the regulators. I hope some lawyer sues them again. I wonder why are the regulators ignoring AHS?

About 3 or 4 years ago, we had insulation sprayed into our attic, and some ended up in an A/C drain pipe which began to leak. It was a very minor leak, and we called AHS. Their A/C contractor came out, charged the AHS fee of $75, then told us that we needed a plumber. Up to this point, no problems with AHS or the A/C guy. Unfortunately, he had removed the A/C drain pipes so that they were now draining, middle of summer and very humid, several gallons of water per hour into our ceiling. By the time that we discovered the problem, probably 10 gallons of water had fallen through the ceiling and on the floor of the master bedroom, floating and warping a hardwood floor. AHS's response, tough! Up until then, AHS had been pretty good, so we decided to let it slide. In retrospect, probably a huge mistake.

After than, so-so to OK service from AHS.

About two months ago, we had the water off for several hours, and the hot water heater overheated, and the T&P valve released. When the water was back to normal, we called AHS, were completely truthful about the water being off, and asked for a plumber. He came out, told us that the WHOLE and ONLY problem was that we were running the water heater too hot, and would have to set it to a very low setting. He didn't replace the T&P valve. With two adults and two teenagers in the house, we could have one shower, then wait for an hour for the water heater to recover, then take another shower. I turned the heater back up, and of course, the weak T&P valve started to leak again.

Asked for a different plumber, GOT THE SAME ONE. Asked for a different technician, GOT THE SAME ONE. Asked for the owner of Mr. Rooter (the plumbing company) to call, STILL WAITING. Asked for AHS to have a supervisor call, STILL WAITING. Got a letter from AHS denying all future claims on the water heater, and demanding that we send $75 for the last call. Again asked AHS to have a supervisor call, STILL WAITING. In the mean time, an ice maker broke, and since we owe $75-----the invoice had been in our hands for literally TWO DAYS---we can't make any other claims.

Can't get away from this company fast enough!

This is Mahfuzul Haque,I have American Homesheild since 2015.When I signed up it was so many promises like 3 STEPS, if we cant fix it we will replace it.I have very very bad EXPERIENCE with this BS company.

After signing up I called for 3 Fosses were leaking, but the contractor who came in he fixed one of them but refused to fix the other one and the other one he tried but could not fix it.My wife called me immediate and said the guy was very rude and was THREATING my wife verbally I also talked to the contractor and he was RAISING his voice with me over the phone,I was very upset and asked him to leave my house. But the Funny part is I called AHS several times several days and explained them everything what happened but was never solved. On the top of that he called me back and THREANTED me again that why I complained against him.AHS still never send anybody to fix that Fosses.

Now part 2--I called again AHS after few days about my AIR CONDITIONING, someone came and checked and I also gave him $75 copay. Now they are saying AHS does not cover this service. I was so Frustrated kept calling them and finally they said I have to pay around few hundred dollars to repair that, I don't remember the exact amount but it was over $400.

Now part 3---I called one more time last week because my cloth washer was not working, the contractor came in and i paid them $75 co pay ,after 2 day AHS sent me an EMAIL that this repair does cover by AHS, I called them they sent someone else for 2nd opinion and the answer stays same, does not cover by AHS.They called my house and talked to my wife and said it will cost us $400 to repair.

Now the bottom line is this is the WORST HOME APPLIANCE WARRANTY company in this country.DO NOT GO FOR AHS.

I Purchased a home and an American Home Shield contract in 2012. The steam boiler was leaking to the point of eroding the concrete beneath it. They had an expert tech (about 20 years old) come out to look at it. He took pictures and told me it had problems. AHS told me they wouldn't do anything about it because the tech told them there isn't anything wrong with it. I had another plumbing company check it. The plumber took one look at it and said, "You have some serious problems here". I had to replace the boiler. When he dismantled it, you could clearly see that the water jacket was leaking to the outside, as well as into the firebox. I sent AHS pictures, but they didn't want any thing to do with it. I had to eat a bill of almost $8,000.

I bought my home in June 2015. The upstairs AC unit broke the Saturday before the seller had American Home Sheild. The office where my home closed had numerous brochures on AMS. I purchased it. They sent out a HVC repair man he replaced the compressor. Someone else who worked with him was suppose to come put a switch. Instead he said that was not the problem did something else charged 225 for freon Broke the next day took three or four days put another compressor. Sam story it's now July and Texas and Hot. Long story short 5 compressors and burned carpet upstairs burned wood new copper tubing new "core". It kinds worked till last week totally out. 100.00 service charge new unit inside and out. Yesterday the tech left I go in the living room water is coming down my fireplace onto all my Christmas decorations tv carpet etc. the tech comes back looks at it says I don't know where the water is coming from. So today it's now my fault. I am responsible for all secondary damage because the tech said he didn't break anything so that's how it is. Oh but AMS authorized a sump pump to be put in. The tech promised to return at 11am. Called says he has another job he has to go on first. Maybe later today or tomorrow...... No heat air in 4 bedrooms. But they just don't care. If AMS had fixed this unit back in June correctly I would not have burned hall carpet or now wet floor/sealing or carpet. Theirs is not for the paying customers. They know how to waste money by band aids. I would love to be a part of a class action. I have pictures and pipe to show shoddy workmanship. The reputable dealers here won't even consider working with AMS.

I went on the website and placed a order for a refrigerator repair that was not cooling. this was on Oct 19,2015On Oct 21st I received a call from Williams dependable appliance who ordered two parts, a fan assembly and a computer board. NO phone calls from vendor. I always had to call to see what was happening. on Oct 28. i receive a email from fed ex stating items delivered 10/28/15 9:57 am
I called Williams appliance and message only machine. called again in the afternoon same message machine. I cailed 10/28/15 4:00PM no response, then on 10/29/15 I called again and message machine kept calling until someone answered finally got a hold of Williams dependable service and they said we will come Saturday bet 12:00 and 5:00 Tech arrived installed both parts and left. Guess what still have the same problem. kept calling Monday got a hold of gal in office who said it is out of our hands Mr. Williams doesn't know what else to do, it is beyond his scope of experience so we have contacted Ahs to assign another vendor. They did that but that company could not come out until Friday between 1:00 and 6:00 November 6 so I called got cut off three times so I had to explain to three different representatives and the best they could do is Thurs Nov 5th bet 12:00&5:00PM. So I await the outcome of that vendors observation of the issue.
I get the feeling AHS hires anyone for a flat fee NON LICENSED < NON INSURED< NON EVERYTHING> IF I search and find this to be true then a class action litigation should be initiated for contracting with non licensed contractors..

Called AHS to submit a claim for device on my water heater expansion tank that had broken off at the pile. Water was filling my garage. We specifically stated that it was the expansion tank on the phone. Customer service scheduled a plumber to come to my home. When he arrived, he called AHS to diagnose the problem. They, in turn, stated that it was not covered, so I paid the number 315.00 to repair it. AHS billed me 75.00 for absolutely nothing. Calls to AHS did no good. Why would you call a plumber when you already knew that it was going g to be a denial? To make 75.00, that's why. I will not be renewing my contract. Had they told me that the expansion tank was not covered, I would have accepted that and kept them. I don't do business with firms that prey on their customers.

In the beginning of Aug. 1015, my air conditioner froze up. Called AHS, as I have been a customer for over 11 years. They came out that day and replaced the motor. My air conditioner continued to fail, would not cool my house. I had to buy a widow unit to try and stay cool. Called them again, after vendor failed to show up 3 days in a row, I called them back to send out a new vendor. That vendor recommended the outside unit and the coil in the inside unit be replaced. AHS stated to ME in a phone call that they were going to replace the Entire unit and I would get a call for an install date. After 6 weeks of calling, no new unit and no return phone calls, I was contacted and told a third vendor would be doing a second opinion. Second opinion?? If that was the case why didn't they fix it weeks ago. Now Oct. and only in the 60's outside, the new vendor stated it was keeping the house cool. It's 68 outside, of course it will keep my house 72 on the inside. The new vendor is only going to clean the coil and repair some minor duct work. The new vendor stated we would not know if this fix works until the next hot day, probably next year!!!! This is a terrible company, they do not honor their contacts, but don't mind taking your money for years and years!!

I think it is time for another class action suit. There are over 5000 complaints on Memphis' better business bureau website. Each and every one is a gory story of incompetence, inefficiency - and downright (what amounts to) illegal business practices.

we have a high-end Maytag washing machine that recently started to make some noises when spinning at high speed. We called AHS but service was denied due to "bearing defec caused by washing machine being overloaded". We have been using washing machines for over 50 years and we have never been told we stuff the drum with too much laundry. A 15 year-old machine is bound to have some wear and tear and the technicians never inspected our washing machine. They made the claim based on the problem we told them.

I think they are working with a local company here to rip people off. I had a drain problem 2 weeks ago. I was told that it was not covered but because it is a rental property I wanted it fixed immediately so I paid the person to run a camera. I paid that then AHS wanted another 75 on top of that. I paid them their service fee but AHS had to have more. I was told it was fixed , problem reoccurred I was told the line needed to be dug up and changed. 2800.00 dollars later. I went by the house this week with a friend that does pluming but was unable to help at the time. He said what they did at best should have cost 3 to 5 hundred dollars and I am out 3300.00. Well this week the water heater broke and because it has not been drained every two years they denied the claim. I don't know anyone who does that nor have I been told to do it. AHS put the one in 14 years ago that is there, again they same company came out they want 1400.oo for a new water heater and installation. I have had this warrantee for 20 years but I won't have it much longer. I am getting the water heater replaced today for 700.00 dollars.
They use to be a good company but I give up.

I would like anyone who would like to be part of a class action lawsuit to contact me. We are in our 3rd week of no refrigerator, 3 service calls already, and horrible response times on calls (as I type this, I have been on hold for 37 minutes of my 45 minutes conference; I'm a teacher). I am ready to take AHS to court and need others who are having the same experiences. I think this company needs to have a major overhaul in how they do business or just plain go out of business.

The only way to get these scumbags to pay up for a replacement (why else would you play $55+ per month??) is to sue them. Specifically for Bad Faith Insurance. There has already been a class action levied against them in the past.

Sue them then arbitrar will arrange payment. Get your appliance fixed by a legit local contractor. Then cancel your contract with AHS asap.

Put that $55/month into a separate personal account escrow. Then when a rainy day comes, you will have the funds to address. You will save yourself the worry, headache, idiotic gamed bureaucracy, and intentional procrastination inherent in the asinine AHS system. Which is completely rigged, if you haven't already figured that out.

We've been trying to get our AC repaired for days and have been on the phone with AHS arguing for countless hours trying to get someone to come fix our AC. We live in Houston Tx and the temperature was 97 with humidity which felt like well over 100. We have 2 small children and a dog and haven't been home in days. We've had to get hotel rooms and stay with family. I took the day off of work because I was told YET AGAIN that someone would be coming to fix my AC only to be told they "unfortunately didn't have me scheduled." So I've lost work hours on top of the money spent trying to get myself and my children in a house that isn't hot enough to kill us and I STILL do not have my AC fixed. I've had 4 different contractors assigned to me spoken to multiple representatives and managers. I've never been so angry over the extreme lack of responsibility and care taken by a company that we have paid to provide a service.

We are currently going through replacement of our HVAC system. We have been told by 3 different people, 3 different units that they would be replacing our unit with. When questioned why they were telling us 3 different products of various comparison we were told it is what they ordered and that is what we are going to get whether we like it or not. All of the people on the phone were rude except for Kim. I have never dealt with such a horrible company. This has been a horrible experience and I don't chose to go through this again.

I had similar experience with AHS. My realtor purchased the policy for me when I bought a foreclosed home in CA. I turned in about 5 or 6 claims and AHS first denied every claim, often trying to use the "normal wear and tear" insuring agreement as an exclusion and other times completely misconstruing their contract language. I first tried talking to the claims people in Iowa and got nowhere. I then contested every claim to corporate and the CA Insurance Department pointing out what AHS's policy said and how their policy actually said it covered my claims. As soon as I "cc'd" the Ins Dept and corporate, they paid every claim and then non-renewed my policy. I had an advantage because I'm a retired Litigation Manager that helped draft policies for an insurance company in another state. I implored the CA Ins Dept to investigate what I believe is their fraudulent claims practices, but it doesn't appear they have. I'm confident if my past company had handled claims the way AHS does we would have been found in bad faith in that state. I've placed my redacted documents/letters on Google drive for any help they might give.

AHS send a tech out in 2014 to replace the compressor in A/C., we paid for the coolant. Now in 2015, our A/C went out again come to find out AHS and the first tech ordered and installed the wrong compressor. Now its scheduled for repair, AHS has denied covering the coolant cost even though it is their negligence that the A/C is broken. We are out of the $450 we put into the first coolant, while the first technician and AHS steady taking our money for service fees and monthly payments. We sent a complaints after complaints to corporate, waiting for a supervisor to call us back that was 5 days ago after the reps constantly tells us they will call you they are investigating the problem. They did have time though to call the company that is replacing the compressor, to tell them they will not cover the coolant though, really after your negligence. You ordering the part, you sending the tech out to fix it. I really need info on a lawyer

I fought with them and the appliance company for my dryer for over a month. Finally when one of the reps kicked the complaint up to corporate did I get results. Now I am going through the same thing with my washer. It needs a new transmission and pump. They are passing the buck back and forth and in the meantime I am waiting for a complete breakdown and expect one of these days for standing water where I will have to wring my clothes out by hand. Nobody offered to kick this matter up to corporate this time. I am filing a complaint with the bbb tomorrow morning on both of them and will suggest to the realtor that she may want to quit suggesting to her buyers that they carry a warranty through AHS.

We have been using AHS for over 16 years including numerous repairs to our 2 air conditioner units. They have arranged for repairs and we continued to paying the annual fee. On or about the 11th or 12th of March we put in a request for air conditioner repair. On March 18th Crystal Air Inc. came out and inspected the unit. They told us that the compressor was bad. They also said that some building codes had changed and they did not think AHS would pay for the code change which required a larger cement base for air conditioners. They expected AHS to replace the compressor but we would probably have to pay for the cement base. They said they would send the claim in and if AHS did not cover the code change we would have to pay for the new base. AHS told us they were reviewing the claim the 2 times we called for an update. Today 4/3/15 we received a letter dated March 3oth that denied our claim. The letter said that since we did not have a filter that should have been on our unit; the missing filter caused the liquid refrigeration to get into the the unit and burned out the compressor. We had never been told that our units needed a filter the numerous times AHS had sent companies out to repair our air conditioning units over the past 16 years. It appears as though they are refusing to replace the unit per their warranty which stated that if they could not repair an item, they would replace it.

Have been without heat for a month. Have sent three techs but still not fixed. Two small kids at home and is 25 degrees outside. When we call to check the status, we wait for 20 minutes each time on the phone.

I've been requesting services on my heat pump since 2004 nearly every year to-date. AHS has provided only enough assistance to keep the unit working. Now that the heat pump needs to be replaced, they are accusing me of failing to provide maintenance and has denied my request for a replacement pump. The unit is literally falling apart because they only would send techs out who agreed to do the bare minimum to keep it running and no more.

I have had ongoing issues with my heating and air-conditioning unit. American Home Shield has always provided the maintenance crew, who would only due minimal work to keep the unit "working." Now that the unit needs to be replaced, American Home Shield says the breakdown is due to my failure to maintain the unit, even though we have a long history of repair requests going back 10 years.

Warranty claim for a pool heater was denied. FAHW said that it is the rodent damage so it is not covered. We asked FAHW several times to send us the evidence that shows the damage is indeed caused by the rodent, but the company refused.

My 16-year-old A/C compressor died. AHS sent out a repairman who falsely wrote in his report that the unit was “poorly maintained,” despite the fact that we just had a maintenance company come out less than three months ago. AHS denied our claim based on his report. We are currently waiting on the second opinion.

I filed a claim with AHS concerning a faulty pool light, filter pump and pool heater. The contractor inaccurately denied my claim. The only company they had to do a 2nd opinion was a company that previously denied a claim that was subsequently overturned by a 2nd opinion.

I paid for an independent contractor to look at the equipment and they agreed that the AHS contractor was mistaken. I feel that this is one big scam and I have emails to prove it.

Refused to pay for Freon to repair my AC. Also, I have an outside electrical outlet that does not work. They sent two different electricians to repair; neither did. Their contractors are substandard. I still do not have the outlet working after paying for the $75.00 fee.

My air conditioner literally exploded. The whole neighborhood heard it/saw it. I had two seperate contractors come out and both said it needed to be replaced. My wife has lupus and I had no choice but to get it done as it was hot outside. I called American Home Shield and was denied the ability to even file a claim.

I had an AC compressor that put out 50 degree air. AHS replaced it with one that puts out 60 degree air. We live in the desert, & the new compressor takes twice as long to reach temperature. AHS says they replaced the old compressor (5 ton) with a 5 ton & that is as far as they will go.

AHS denied my A/C claim due to lack of maintenance when they have never inspected my A/C prior. My home is 17 years old and they conclude that lack of maintenance is why my compressor failed. We in fact have had our unit maintained.
