My husband was arrested and he speaks no English, but the police insisted that he did and read him all his rights and served him his papers in English and then refused to get him an interpreter.

Submitted 2008-12-03

Defendant: ^Discrimination

My husband is being held in jail on a $10,000 cash only bond simply because when he went to his bond hearing, he was unable to understand what was being said. The bailiff insisted that he did understand and since my husband said that he did not, they refused to lower his bond and there was no translator available.
