LAWSUITS NEWS & LEGAL INFORMATION

Washington State

On June 11, 2002 Shirley Lacy was stopped on Interstate 5 by Trooper Karen Villaneuve and subsequently arrested. Villaneuve allegedly pulled Lacy over for a traffic infarction and arrested her after she appeared to be under the influence. Drug detection determined Lacy was not impaired and she filed a civil rights lawsuit against the state and the state patrol alleging racial bias and police misconduct. Lacy later dropped her claims of racial discrimination and was awarded a $250,000 settlement for police misconduct. (Feb-08-06) [SEATTLE POST INTELLIGENCER]

On 3-14-08 I was pulled over for not having a front license plate. I was driving a 93 Toyota pick up with dealer plates. After realizing they were dealer plates and they came back clear and clean I should have been left alone because when you are running dealer plates they issue only one plate per vehicle for the rear of the vehicle. To this day they refuse to give them back. Is this not a violation of my right to due process? If something can be done to remedy this situation please give me a call.
