Discrimination based on race

Submitted 2008-02-14

Defendant: County School District

My wife put my daughter on a waiting list for a special elementary school last summer, in anticipation our daughter's first year of school. This school has very strict requirements for behavior and performance of students, unlike many of the other public schools. My daughter will be unable to begin kindergarden next week based on her race, due to diversity requirements. To me, this is an obvious case of discrimination in direct violation of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Publicly funded schools may not refuse to enroll a student based upon race. The key to this issue is that my family and I are caucasian. This is a very difficult issue based on the demographics of the area, but I am tired of the double standard of racism. Just because my family and I are white doesn't mean we unable to experience discrimination and racism.
