I was prescribed Ketek by a pulmonary doctor for bronchitis. Two days later my liver went into shock taking my kidney down with it. My lungs failed and I was put on a ventilator 2 time during the 38 days I was in the ICU.Submitted 2007-10-18Defendant: Ketek (dangerous side effects) I almost died several times. My liver eventually started working as did my kidneys. I live 4 miles from the hospital and when I became so ill so fast I went to the ER. 72 hours of slow dialysis then hemo dialysis for a month. Atrophy. I had to learn to walk again. My family members had to take off of work to take care of me. It's been two years and I am finally getting back to a state of normal. Sort of. I never have regained full use of my left leg. I was given plasma during the illness. So I have no idea if that will cause problems for me later. I have been weak and have never once felt good since this incident. I believe that my Doctors will all agree that the Ketek caused all of the problems. Permanent liver damage? I don't know. I had a lung condition. And ended up almost dying. My kidneys got better. A biopsy showed that the liver failure/shock caused ATN. As far as damages suffered are concerned...well with triple organ failure there are no numbers that indicate the long term damage for someone in my situtation. I am sick a lot now. I have Dr and Hospital bills coming out of my ears. My family members lost a lot of time from work. My then 71 year old mother cared for me most of the time. And she was still working at the time. -- South Carolina * The views printed here do not necessarily represent the views of LawyersandSettlements.com but are solely the views of the author.
