Westfield Group

A lawsuit has been filed and is seeking class action status against the property group for allegedly deducting a monthly fee from balances that remained on Westfield Gift Cards a year after they were bought. The lawsuit was filed in San Diego Superior Court on behalf of thousands of Westfield shopping mall consumers and claims Westfield Group failed to disclose the $2 monthly fee verbally or in marketing material. The class would include all California residents who bought or received a Westfield gift card on or after Jan. 11, 2004.

Westfield Group claims to be the largest retail property group in the world based on equity market capitalization. It owns and operates 119 shopping centers around the world, including 59 in the United States.
