A class action lawsuit has been filed against West Branch Regional Medical Center in Southfield, Michigan. The suit alleges that the centre was negligent by allowing the co-defendant, pharmacist Thomas Perry Gates, to have full access to painkillers, even though they were aware that he had been addicted to them. Gates had allegedly been taking painkillers from the center's storage area and diluting the drugs to hide the theft. The suit has been filed on behalf of all the patients of the centre, and their families, who had to watch their loved ones suffer because their painkillers had unknowingly been tampered with.
